Snow any here but im in the sunny south west coastal town off Girvan.

From what i hear Doris is dumping most off the white stuff over the East later Edinburgh way, now if your going to dump anything it is much better they get dumped on rather than us.

Haha. Er, black pudding deep fried in batter with chips, where the pudding is the shape and size of a whole cucumber if that helps

Do you want to buy some?

sounds rather nice actually, assume the black pud is sliced longways , rather a long way to go to try it ,but I have a chip pan and I can make batter :D

It aint sliced, its one cucumber shape and size lump of black pudding deep fried in batter. Add chips, and voila you have a black pudding supper. Just add salt and vinegar, or for those in Edinburgh they add salt n sauce.

Always sauce.

That's why crisps are such a pain.

Who want salt & vinegar?

I want salt and brown sauce flavoured crisps - not that rubbish Worcestershire sauce stuff either.

You guys put salt n sauce on everything though, including on a fish supper :nono:

White pudding looks like a haggis pudding in shape and texture and is has a good oatmeal base with suet, onions and seasoning (and maybe a bit of pork if you are posh) - and unlike black pudding, no blood!!

Haggis pudding has most of the bits the sheep no longer needs and a lot of spices.

Both are rough in texture.

And then of course there's the red pudding!!

Puddings. Not to be confused with dumplings. :P

Although sometimes interchangeable e.g. "In 2014 season Kevin whatshisname rode like a .............." - insert 'pudding' or 'dumpling' or whatever your choice. :drink:

You just killed that conversation mentioning Kevin the dumpling or is it Kevin the pudding i prefer dumpling personally it has more off a natural description for the pudding. Edited by Gazc

and every thing gets cooked in the fryer too

got a pie at berwick chip shop once and was nearly sick when i took a bite

if that's the Robert Smith chippy , it's vastly over rated . I got a steak pie supper there once and the pie was freezing in the middle , I haven't been back there since

The worst thing ever though - a deep fried pizza.

WTF?

'Shallow' fried pizza is ok with a 'full breakfast' as a replacement for fried bread, (if you like fried bread, of corse),,, but I do like the sound of white pudding and will definitely try it, but the only place i've ever seen it was in Silloth, and that was scary enough ;)
