Guest
Has anyone been near to Wimbledon Stadium recently? Any signs of activity there?
Guest
Apologies for this photo Link - it is late 1960s into early 1970s and shows photos taken by me in that period at Wimbledon Stadium. The majority were for use in the old 'South London Advertiser'. https://www.skidmarks1928.com/v/photos/john-somerville-collection/C204475040
Guest
I am certain there was a cycle speedway track in the Wimbledon Stadium car park in the early 1950s. Eventually the club moved to a new base in nearby Garrett Park. Or am I (as usual) completely confused on things?

Guest
The thread title is 2002 Wimbledon Revival And Other Happenings. This is to clarify that And Other Happenings is designed to cover ANYTHING in regard to Plough Lane and general Wimbledon happenings that ARE OUTSIDE the 2002 Wimbledon Revival. Whatever.....but a preview of a meeting obviously doesn't belong in "Years gone by"!!! Neither does a match report from just a "day gone by"

Free entry for under 12s I had planned to attend the Kempton Park event but a personal matter has just arisen which must take priority. I would be interested to know, if anyone who reads this thread as to if there were any speedway especially Wimbledon orientated happenings at Kempton Park. I have an idea that great follower of the Dons Stu Towner could be there. Thank you.

steve roberts
Neil Cameron of Australia, had a few seasons at Plough Lane in the early 70s He was making headway during 1974 but was then allocated to Poole in 1975 and seemed to go backwards. Turned up at Newport in 1976 but didn't excel and quickly re-located to White City where, if memory recalls, rode in one meeting for 'The Rebels' before disappearing from the British scene. iris123
A great idea for a birthday or of course Xmas gift especially for Dons fans.Well i guess Brummie fans as well. The colour scheme works perfectly on a red apple.I was at the opening of the North German apple season last weekend and was at an orchard that does these gifts for €2.50 an apple He was making headway during 1974 but was then allocated to Poole in 1975 and seemed to go backwards. Guest
Les Moore, Australia. Wimbledon and Shelbourne 1950, then rode for Cardiff in two following seasons. Les Moore switched to car racing in the later 1950s and 1960s. He died after a mid-1960s accident. And, like his son Ronnie, Les was also an experienced Wall Of Death rider. salty
::::: Gordon Kennett was a Wimbledon favourite for many seasons. No he wasn't, he only rode for one full season. In that season his average dropped by at least a couple of points.
