Who Were The Better Team Belle Vue Or Cradley Heath.?

You must have conveniently forgotten Mort taking Penhall on the last turn then

Absolutely. To be fair it was 36 years ago. Only reason I remember the run-off was because it was a fantastic race with the lead changing hands a good few times. Can remember lots of very vocal Halifax fans on the first bend as well!

Sidney: On reflection you're right about 83. I'd been to watch the Wolves play Spurs at Molineux in the afternoon and it had tipped it down.

Never got to the Shay...although I visited a few years ago out of interest but there were no remnants of the track.

I went there once, they had a meeting after the Bradford world final in 85. I was surprised at the black shale and steep banking.

It was good to see ex Hawk Sean Willmott (la la la la la) again, before he emigrated to Australia.

I remember there being a pub right outside with a big picture of a speedway rider in the foreground and a smaller footballer in the background, which was nice!

Never went to the Shay, but i did go to both Cradley and Belle Vue.Saw Gundersen v Nielsen in the golden helmet at Cradley. Two legends of the sport

Never went to Belle Vue (wish I had) but went to Cradley once, again in 85. I went mad that year and ventured twice up north, both times making sure I'd taken my shots.

It was an England v Denmark test, I remember Peter Ravn having a nasty crash, and Jan O (one of my favourite riders) being the match winner.
