salty
You must have conveniently forgotten Mort taking Penhall on the last turn then Absolutely. To be fair it was 36 years ago. Only reason I remember the run-off was because it was a fantastic race with the lead changing hands a good few times. Can remember lots of very vocal Halifax fans on the first bend as well! Sidney: On reflection you're right about 83. I'd been to watch the Wolves play Spurs at Molineux in the afternoon and it had tipped it down.
Terry
Never got to the Shay...although I visited a few years ago out of interest but there were no remnants of the track. I went there once, they had a meeting after the Bradford world final in 85. I was surprised at the black shale and steep banking. It was good to see ex Hawk Sean Willmott (la la la la la) again, before he emigrated to Australia. I remember there being a pub right outside with a big picture of a speedway rider in the foreground and a smaller footballer in the background, which was nice!

I went mad that year and ventured twice up north, both times making sure I'd taken my shots. It was an England v Denmark test, I remember Peter Ravn having a nasty crash, and Jan O (one of my favourite riders) being the match winner.
