Hi Again,

Can anyone add any missing tracks that operated during 1932 ?

I have -

Northern League
Belle Vue, Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester Super, Preston, Sheffield

Southern League
Coventry, Crysral Palace, High Beech, Lea Bridge, Nottingham, Southampton, Stamford Bridge, Wembley, West Ham, Wimbledon, Harrubgay, Leicester Stadium

Non-League
Audenshaw, Barnet, Barrow (Little Park), Bristol, Caerphilly, Caxton, Edinburgh, Exeter, Greenford, Hall Green (Birmingham), White City Hull, Norwich, Plymouth, Wombwell, Workington, York (Burnholme)

Many thanks

PS. Bit shorter than the 1931 list. Sadly

The Speedway Researcher site indicates meetings were also held in 1932 at Catford and Dagenham.

Why is this thread given as 1931 when it lists teams for 1932?

So far as I can see no thread has actually been made to define the 1931 season?

Shouldn't the team that I have highlighted be Harringay?

This Link gives details in regard the 1931 Northern League:

This Link gives details in regard to the 1931 Southern League:

At the moment I am unable to give details of non-league tracks in 1931.

Hi,

Okay apologies I should have said

"Can anyone add any missing tracks that operated during 1931 ?"

And the "Harrubgay" should indeed have been Harringay (who of course resigned mid-season with 'Manchester', aka Belle Vue, taking over their fixtures - as an aside I had thought that the 'Manchester' fixtures were raced at White City Manchester but the 1931 pdf on the Belle Vue page of the Researcher website says that they were raced at Hyde Road, can anyone confirm if White City Manchester was used this season ?).

The PS comment should have referred to 1930.

Not sure, other than trying to get the post typed in too quickly, why I made the mistakes.

Really I'm asking if I've missed out on the Non-League venues that ran as the League ones are quite easy to confirm.

Many thanks especially to BL65 as I hadn't been looking at Researcher tracks which didn't have a pdf associated with them. The list of tracks I have come across was taken from an old spreadsheet file on the Researcher website (not sure if it is still on there).

Thanks

As another final update the Speedway Researcher website lists Crayford, Eastbourne, Middlesbrough and Newcastle (Gosford) as operating in 1931 too.

Crayford certainly operated in this period and among its speedway aspirants was Harold Daniell. He eventually became better known as a road racing rider and had an excellent record in the seasons before and following World War Two as a several times winner of the Isle of Man TT.

Of course they did; they were under the same promotion as Harrubgay!

Steve

Thanks for pointing out the error Crayford spelling! I have corrected same.

What is the problem getting over the name Harringay? That forum word prediction as Harrubgay does not happen to me - I get Haringey!!!!
