Popular Post speedy bill
I have just seen Poole are holding a Darcy Ward benefit meeting witch is great. And now i am hoping Both Sheffield and Berwick will be doing the same for Ricky Ashworth, Both these lads still need as much support and help they can get. Both are still young men who are not able to work due to the injures they sustained entertaining us the public so come on people get behind the push to get Ricky the help he deserves.

Berwick did hold a meeting for Ricky while Sheffield held a meeting in 2015 called Ricky's Big Day.
crescent girl
No question that Ricky -- and Darcy Ward, and others -- deserve every support, financial and otherwise, our sport can give them. But that is exactly what the SRBF does. Speedway can be proud of the way its funds are raised, and used. Every supporter can help by giving generously to every collection at their home track, and by attending the BenFund Bonanza each spring.
The Third Man
i agree, but surely the meeting needs to be held in a central location to get as many supporters there as possible, holding it in Glasgow, not a dig at Glasgow by the way, will not maximise the support is there anyway you can make a donation on line for the supporters who wont be able to attend? crescent girl
Absolutely --- at any time of the year! All sorts of donation possibilities -- see www.srbf.co.uk

topsoil
It would be great if Berwick and Sheffield could hold an annual event, even a pre-season friendly, for Ricky. Even if it is one year at Berwick, the next at Sheffield. Use the event to try out new race formulas, pairs, fours. I'm sure the meetings would get plenty sponsors, given the cause. Make a big thing of it in the local press and get as big a crowd in as possible.

Totally agree, and while on the subject lets not forget the likes of Alan Wilkinson Joe Owen etc etc. I have a real soft spot for Alan especially, if any one needs financial help Alan does. proud panther
Does anyone have any recent updates on how Ricky is doing, & if his house was modified with the money from his benefit meeting ? I will never forget that awful night at Scunthorpe when he had his accident, or the silence on the journey home, as we were all in shock. scaramanga
goog god what a funny thing ive just found a old videp of ricky that was done on his return home although its sad to watch it was nice seeing it again now the thing is id actually come on here to ask if anyone had any up to date news I have just seen Poole are holding a Darcy Ward benefit meeting witch is great. So, what you're saying is its ok for Glasgow supporters to travel south of the border for the Ben Fund meeting every year, but it isn't ok just one year in reciprocation? You also say it will not maximise the support. Glasgow is probably one of the better supported and attended clubs, and as a number of high profile riders have commented Glasgow is currently one of the highest profile and best publicised clubs in the sport. The Ben Fund meeting has been going for a few years now, Glasgow deserve to host it for a change.

The Ben Fund Bonanza is held every year all around the country and is being 'shared about' every year. Every track has a collection every season for those who wish to donate and cannot attend the meeting at the start of the season, also, you can donate directly, as already pointed out, so ample opportunity for everyone to make a donation.
Popular Post high edge
i called to see Ricky last Wednesday,he is doing ok but still has a long road ahead. He can hold a conversation and with help stand up for a short time. The house as been changed so he is on one level so no stairs to climb. His dad Dave is doing a great job helping him to do things .The lad is determined to work hard at getting some sort of independence doing things we lucky ones take for granted,He is a lovely lad and i am proud to call him a mate,he shows great will power and will improve his health over time .
proud panther
Thanks rider slider. Really pleased the house has been altered to make life a little easier for Ricky. His Dad came across as an amazing loyal parent on a video clip I watched a while back.

allthegearbutnaeidea
Ricky and his Dad are both lovely people, on the note of the Ben Fund I believe there is a bus going up from Berwick
speedibee
I think Darcy Ward has had more than his fair share , time to look after our own . I see no reason why Ward should be better treated by British supporters than British riders in the same position , Time to let the Aussies do their bit for one of Their own
