The Tai Woffinden Testimonial

Does Greg ride in the American national championships every year?

Do all the Oz riders go home to compete in their national titles?

Just as prestigious as the British title don't you think?

Tai not riding here is another chance for the haters to hate

Greg now 46 won his national title 8 times and retired from it at 40 years old, so your point about tai quitting at 25 and only winning the national title 3 times is poor excuse.

Aussies Chris holder 5 times national champ

You were saying stevebrum ?

Absolutely no way Tai should be given a testimonial. They get chucked out here there and everywhere as it is, should be for riders who have raced for one club, not just been an asset of, for ten consecutive seasons.

The rest of the Tai bashing is just people using this as an excuse to shoehorn in reasons why they don't like him. He's one of the best in the world, it'd be nice if he rode in the British final and for Team GB again but that's another matter entirely and certain facets (not all) of that argument from his point of view do make sense.

So Holder, Doyle, Ward (prior to injury), Batch and all the top Oz riders of recent years go home EVERY year for the annual national title.

Greg dont compete in American title anymore, nor Tai in UK. There is no difference.

Next?

If you want Tai to ride every year in British Final then I assume you expect the same of Holder in Oz.

Tell me, how is Holder getting on in the Oz titles?

Or is he doing exactly the same as Tai in 2016?

Perhaps you have a response to this?

Completely different situations. The British Final is during the European season within easy reach of the competing riders. The Oz equivalent is after a long hard season, riding several nights a week, in different countries with limited sleep. Don't blame anyone that needs to recharge. The Oz title is several rounds and thousands of miles.

Stevebrum will always try and find excuses for TW but for a young sportsman with no young family to look after he can ride 7 days a week so he has no excuses to pull out.

So either your national title is something to be proud of or you can pick and choose to suit.

You can't defend the one and not the other.

Can you name me where I have defended Tai's request for a testimonial???

Here is a clue, you won't find one.

Yet again another theory of yours smashed.

The Oz riders not going home to ride for their national title is no different to Tai choosing not to ride in his national championship either.

You can find excuses why but they aren't different.

As per my post (opinion), they are completely different situations, for the reasons stated. No worries, you have your own opinion.

Read the 9 pages fella. The vast majority are very happy Tai got told no. KK is a 100 more times committed to British Speedway than the part time Aussie who turns up when it suits him.

Don't you read??

I agree he got told no.

Dear oh dear, almost as ridiculous as your KK committed to British speedway comment. That's the 3 times sacked committed rider you mean?

It's fine to have a different opinion so no issue.

A very strange and naive request from Tai....

Surely his management team would have realized this wasn`t a good idea and would add to the increasing bitterness towards him ?

He doesn`t help himself at times

On a different note

I find the abuse about his appearance quite distasteful...

YES he has lots of tattoos - Lots of young lads and lasses have them - It`s the trend

YES he has ear spacers - Lots of young lads and lasses have them - it`s the trend

Equality and diversity in this day and age should be embraced...

Maybe i`m expecting too much.....

Nothing wrong with him covering himself in doodles and sticking Pontefract Cakes in his ears, if he wants to.

I'm over 75 and often go around wearing my underpants on my head and pencils stuck up my nose

..I walk around dress as a Viking or to be more correct a Saxon because I'm from the south and proud of it!

I don't think Tai deserves a testimonial as he has not completed the requirement in terms of years. Surely he can't need the money? It is even sadder that for whatever reasons he will not now ride for team GB ( for this year at least ). We should at least know the full story but as with so many things in the sport it is all smoke and mirrors ( e.g. why Chris Holder couldn't be fitted in at Poole for next season ) If it is personal matter then it should not be put into the public arena.

Seems like you have the answer yourself.

if he has ridden 10 seasons at Wolves, then yes he should have a testimonial

...but the usual requirement is that the years need to be consecutive (however has he actually ridden ten years for Wolves?) but that ideology went out years ago judging by some of the meetings staged in the past (Peter Ravn is one that immediately comes to mind).
