Fitting In Top Riders

Recommended Posts

Why don't they make the Premiership points limit for the bottom 6 and allow the teams a number one on any average IE doesn't count towards team building.

It's still only one out of seven and it's good to see likes of Holder riding in the UK.

Great idea - lets do that this season. That means Swindon have 4 more points to play with

Because there looks to be an unwritten regulation/gentleman’s agreement in relation to “top riders” and the working of the points limit was the best way to freeze many of them out without breeching employment laws?

While those who did or do decide to sign top riders are going to be punished for doing so – see Swindon and Doyle.

Riders are self employed so employment law in relation to who can or cannot ride is not applicable.

Wonder what happens if say Doyle rides enough matches for a greensheet ~ 10.00 then has to leave Swindon. If Holder were to be targeted as a replacement would his 12.00+ average conversion still apply? Or have rules been created to cater for such scenarios?

This is a very big point, particularly should Doyle, for example, get injured and Swindon need a replacement.

If the average is dropping to 42.00, then riders will presumably also be on their current average.

However, how will it affect riders who are not in the league?

Would hope once they drop to 42 they forget any 1.4 mult for any EL riders, but they would need to increase any PL rider av up to the EL standard, liked they used to do.

It wouldn't be fair.

If the top nine riders in this year's averages signed as the nine number ones, Swindon would get Doyle on 9.58 (13.41) & the last team, say Leicester, Fricke on 7.08 (9.92).

They'll just come in on their proper averages, e.g. Holder on 8.95 could replace Jason if Jason achieved above that figure after 4H&A

I don't think so according to a post on another thread there averages stay inflated for this season?

They're too expensive for the UK - it's all about reducing costs (as any business will endeavour to do in difficult times) - it's not rocket science (no Rye House pun intended)
