SCB
Should have just said brits only csn double up. And minimum 5 pl/7cl assessed average for foreign riders. Or: max 1 foreign rider per team can double upSurely the minimum average has to be the same in both leagues if all other riders are the same
waiheke1
Surely the minimum average has to be the same in both leagues if all other riders are the sameYes it does! So assume a 5 old El which is now a 7. So 7 for both leagues.
DC2
Yes it does! So assume a 5 old El which is now a 7. So 7 for both leagues. Why should it be a minimum 7 average for new foreigners when there are plenty of existing foreigners on lower averages? Should promoters be encouraged to keep signing riders like Klindt & Konopka rather than new ones & why should every new foreigner be penalised with high averages when they too are the future lifeblood of our sport because we have too few British riders. Any new foreigners should simply have an assessed average depending on how good they are (looking at their averages in other leagues) - maybe with a minimum of 4 for those who have not ridden in the top leagues in Poland, Sweden or Denmark & a maximum of 9 for those who have qualified for the GPs or achieved greater than 8 in any of those leagues - but not everyone on a 7. That would be mad.

That would be mad. Because over time the number of existing foreigners that are not up to the required standard will go down and eventually teams will only employ those that they believe are truly worth investing time and money in. There are not too few British riders. There are plenty without a job in the top two divisions at present.
bruno
Trouble is the people who decide averages are the same people who run teams. Madness. #closed shop

The five in bold are the only ones that haven't got a team in either division so far that I'd be bothered about not having clubs. Of those it seems that Starke and Bewley are fixed up but haven't been announced yet.

Ben91
Do you mean the only five "British" riders? I think that's pretty obvious. They're the only five I'd be bothered about missing out, especially when there are overseas riders on similar averages in team declarations already. But on the bright side several new NL riders are breaking through.
Ben91
You voted for Brexit didn't you? Quite the opposite actually. Not the place to discuss it but I think leaving the EU is an awful decision. I'd just prefer to see British youngsters take places in British teams over imports, not as if our lads are getting a look in any other countries after all.
Sings4Speedway
Surely a simple answer is all British riders get either the reduction (where applicable) or a point reduction from their averages at the end of each season making them a more attractive proposition than foreign imports.

Sings4Speedway
Which used to be the case, did it not? It rings a bell but with the changes in rules / my memory fading i can no longer be sure about many things. Although a sensible rule being in place and then taken out does sound about right
SCB
For about 10 years Brits had a 2.5% reduction in average until the BSPA decided it was illegal under EU law (which is crap) and scrapped it. Now rider only get the GB reduction on their first 3 averages after leaving the NL.
