No Scot Nichols, Chris Harris, Stefan Nielsen Or Ashley Morris

With only 12 team places left & Bewley, Masters, Wells & Clegg likely to fill four, it would be a shame to lose Stefan & Ashley.

I guess the much-hyped doubling down of Nicholls & Harris didn't happen because of their slightly high averages, wage demands or overseas commitments, but surely they would have been box office for some clubs?

Also, look at the amount of riders who appear on the 2016 season final green sheet averages who aren't yet officially named in any Championship side. As DC2 states, there are 12 places left to fill, however there are still around 60 riders who rode in the Premier League in 2016 available.

I thought the pl and cl didn't join together because of lack of riders but it looks like there's plenty spare, wouldn't that have been better than having 2 divisions with promotion ,relegation and the farce of one rider riding for both the teams in the play off. Eg Danny King maybe

People have been moaning for the last however many years that there aren't enough riders around, now there is a surplus. That says to me that we didn't need doubling up for the coming season or at least there should have been a cap.

When the likes of Morley, Stefan Nielsen etc. may not have a club in either of the top two divisions at the start of the year and the likes of Busch, Grondal, Gappmaier and Wallner are on similar averages and have team spots that is unacceptable. I'm not against overseas riders, they enrich the product but when there is a homegrown rider just as good, if not better that could fill the team spot then they should be given that chance.

Two rounds of fixtures in both divisions mean that riders are getting plenty of rides having just one club in 2017. So far there are seven riders declared in sides at both levels, five at Coventry granted, those are: Danny King, Jason Garrity, Lasse Bjerre, Lewis Kerr, Josh Bates, Jack Holder and Kyle Howarth.

There are riders around that are completely unattached and could have taken a a spot from one of these riders at one of their clubs. If we had a scenario where riders were not riding for a team in each division it would give the play-offs more legitimacy for one and also open up the potential for a cup competition encompassing both divisions which equals more fixtures.

Off topic a bit but it's the reason I've lost it with football, when the premiership started it was top foreign players who joined but now it's anybody resulting in limited home grown players resulting in a loss of local identity for teams. Then again crowds at premier league teams are still big so maybe it's me

This is what happens when you allow a doubling up free for all. Doubling up should have been limited to 3 riders per team (EL and PL) this season, and announced it would be 2 per team in 2018.

and when the minimum set for non Brits at 5 is reduced to 4 to suit some.

Also the silly assessments like Andersen at Swindon.
