DSC67
After all the build up it was a bit of a damp squid last night, Calamari fireworks at yours on bonfire night is it ?
Starman2006
Â Bad advert for would be new fans, I love the sport but sat there bored stiff by what can only be described as Gate and go. Â On the plus side it was great to see Emil and Martin back in the GP'S, hopefully Warsaw will put on a better show than last night. You always get one gaff GP per season, lets hope that was it.. Mark
MORE like a wet squid. Spoke to Kelvin Tatum this morning and he was amazed when they started watering the track throughout the day. Although the weather was beautiful the previous days had seen torrential rain. The river that runs behind the stadium had burst its banks. Â He says they should have run a short practice in the morning to turn the track surface over and then set about grading it for the evening. You only had to see how Nicki Pedersen was covered in dirt without completing half a lap to appreciate how over-watered it was. Â The fault lies with those responsible for track preparation, ultimately Phil Morris, during the day but they made a complete cock-up. Â At least the depth of strength in the 2017 line-up was confirmed. You could quite easily see the riders who finished ninth to 15th all make the top eight in Warsaw. And has a SGP season every started with the three riders on the rostrum having coming through the GP Challenge. Agree with you about too much watering. Â If the authorities need to turn the track over to move away surface water why can't a few local riders do some laps. No need for the GP riders to get involved.
stevehone
the strength in depth of this years GP showed through, could be a lot of surprises this year. anyone wondering if Pedersen has an absolute shocker again in Warsaw he might withdraw from the series? body language wasn't good at all

Have you ever seen him quit before ? He got filled in after making a pretty decent start in Heat 1 and showed some fight later. I would forgive anyone a bad meeting on that track.. Â EDIT - Pedersen 3 rides in Poland so far 2 -2*-3 looks quick Edited April 30, 2017 by marky
New Yorker
Yes it was bad track conditions (aren't there officials from the "main office" who over see track preparation for every GP event) and a very boring GP but there were a lot of questions answered about new riders and some hints of possibly whats to come from the old guard. To me the one person who really stood out was Freddie. I believe he passed more riders by far than any other, obviously had a good motor but also lots of confidence and commitment. Hats off to Martin Vaculick for a well deserved win and a heart felt interview. Looks like "Real Deal" Dudek has arrived and Emil was a welcome addition who also gives a great interview. So yes it was a terrible track but there was lots to see if you were looking.
waytogo28
If it was down to Phil Morris re the watering and track prep. on the day, he played a shocker and we got virtually nowt in terms of racing. Or was it all about inadequate interpreters and the "what to do & how and when" was lost in translation?
PHILIPRISING
FROM my own experience of working at many SGPs in Krsko there is no lack of English speaking officials there.
False dawn
If it was down to Phil Morris re the watering and track prep. on the day, he played a shocker and we got virtually nowt in terms of racing. Or was it all about inadequate interpreters and the "what to do & how and when" was lost in translation? The powers that be cannot avoid the responsibility for this one, be it language or any other excuse. They have built a World Championship circus with all the TV and publicity spotlight that goes with it. And with that comes the weight of providing the very best racing facilities. If it rained and there was a doubt about safety that's one thing. To get the news that the organisers had over watered the track and we end up with one of the worse GP meetings for a long time is quite another. Don't make excuses, understand what happened and put in place procedures to avoid it in the future.

Last night wasn't an absolute disater for him, he's only 5 points behind Woffinden!
False dawn
It's early days. The competitors with staying power are those that win through in the end. You know, I might book that trip to Oz and watch the decider!
smiles
With the strength of this years field, the bottom 4(minus the wild card) could be in the final next time.  Lindbaek Pedersen Janowski Holder,  Oh yes all 4 of them have won a grand prix  Roll on a great season
iris123
Only tuned in in time heat 12 and was a terrible meeting. You want to start off the GP season with a bang and that certainly had nothing in common with a great start last night.Looked a poor crowd who often seemed like they had turned up just to see a firework display and the bike riding was just delaying that.Great line up,but deserve much much better than that track and crowd.

SPEEDY69
Lindgren was awesome, attacking it. The really poor ones were Lindback who looked rubbish and Nicki who was riding a lawnmower. Got a good second with faster guys behind him but neither could blame the track. Zagar also looked good. So much fir the poles taking over. Start and go full throttle all the way around makes it a bike test only. Still, we enjoyed it, cheap drinks but the food was shocking. Burgers in pitta bread was all that was on offer.
