King's Lynn Young Stars 2017

Campos had a practice at Peterborough recently so I was expecting him in the team. It makes sense though because there's no number 1s out there for KL to get at this late stage and at least he's a decent rider who goes well at the Norfolk Arena. It seemed too early for him to retire anyway.

Looking at 2016 averages (with bonus points) don't know why people are so against Campos!

S.CAMPOS 7.17 T.HAMPSHIRE 3.11 C.LOCKE 2.23 L.WHITMORE 1.57

A few more riders who would fit!

Ashley Morris 9.77
Tim Webster 8.74
Joe Jacobs 8.63
James Shanes 8.53
Luke Crang 8.44
Oliver Greenwood 8.00
Liam Carr 7.71
Some may have retired but someone may be willing to ride!

Would Shanes (no NL place), or Jacobs (no team at all) or indeed Sarjerant (no team place) not fit in place of Kyle?

Very much like they have replaced a number one with a second string.

Although winning is not everything for the young stars, as we see with the way both Bailey and Lambert are in the main team. The young stars is all about bringing on their own talent.

The team needs a no1 and I'm sorry to say campos will never be that person, shame as they get all these sponsors but don't get a competitive team. People will not support a team that gets beaten home and away and also it will not help the youngsters in the team as it will knock there confidence. There are riders out there who are far better than campos but will want more more which is whati guess it all boils down too.

Shanes doesn't want the NL & Jacobs and Sarjeant's averages are too high.

I think people on here are being very harsh on Scott Campos he is obviously only stepping in until they get someone else.

He has done a great job for the team over the years, So give him a break

How do you know he is only there temporary? I bet he is still there at the end of the season

Campos isn't a number 1 but he's never claimed to be a number 1. He shouldn't be expected to replicate the scoring that Hughes would've done because he's not at that standard, but he should be judged on his own recent abilities. He added a point to his average last season and did pretty well.

Last season the Isle of Wight signed Chris Widman to replace their number 1. He clearly isn't a number 1, but that didn't mean that Widman was poor because he was judged on if he himself improved. Sometimes it's difficult to find riders who's averages 'fit'.

Can't speak for others, but I was not criticizing Campos just his inclusion. Have only ever heard good things about him as a person and apprantly he is very useful with setups and stuff.

Also if no number 1 riders are available without further changes, then selecting Campos instead of putting one of the lower order riders out of work is the RIGHT thing imo.

Think Campos was made the team manager for the Young Stars in the Management shuffle last year. So I think he will have to replace himself

whenever possible. also I don't know whether they can have a guest or R/R for a retired No 1 before the season starts.

You can't if the rider in question (Hughes) hasn't ridden in an official meeting.

However if Kyle could be persuaded to ride one meeting KLYS could then exploit the 'guest for any reason' rule that is specific to the NL. (There has been some discussion of this on the Buxton thread in connection with the signing of Ellis Perks). I'm a bit surprised that no alteration has been made to this rule.

I believe its 'facility' for any reason e.g the dreaded RR. Unless its the number 1 missing, the missing rider is doubling up or there is more than one rider from the 2-5 then a guest is allowed?

Either way had Kyle completed the first meeting the rule could have been exploited but i commend Kings Lynn for attempting to track a full team whatever the level of riders that are brought in as cover.
