robert72
No holder at Poole no me at Poole. What even is speedway in U.K. Anymore 🤔 This tweet from Darcy Ward today has highlighted his loyalty to the Poole promotion and the fans. Also speedway fans in the UK who have supported him so well since day one and dug deep for him, So Poole fans won't seem him again if his mate holder isn't in the team shame on him but not surprised. Will Poole now run his benefit meeting ? If so will fans boycott it like he will Poole if holder don't ride. Once again he has shown his true colours. Steve Shovlar
No. you read it completely wrong. He isn't saying what you think at all. He is saying what is the sport coming to in The UK? He is clearly not saying he wont be at Poole for his big meeting at the start of the season. Why would he junk that?
mdmc82
Riders come and go at clubs. I remember Holder missing British speedway and riding abroad before instead. He spent a lot of time slagging off the British tracks including Poole so might not be a bad thing for him as now he doesn't have to ride them. As for Ward, if he turns his back on the club that he's meant to love and who have helped him so much just because they can't fit one of his friends in then he needs to grow up.

Popular Post robert72
Darcy wards circumtances are a different to the normal fan, dont you think. But hang on, we'l have 500 posts about it... So Poole have No Disabled or Elderly fans anymore. Not sure how you can defend his comments as a Poole fan or the need for a benefit meeting for someone who can afford a house on the Gold Coast and a luxury trip to Las Vegas, which doesn't strike me as someone like ricky ashworth who was in desperate need of help with a benefit meeting.
False dawn
OMG. I find myself (almost) tempted, slightly inclined to defend Mr Ford. The AGM clearly set out to abandon any hope that the World's best could be practically fitted into our leagues. I note the inclusion of Jason Doyle into the Swindon team but think this a doubtful decision. Poole have taken the view they want reasonable strength in depth and that means there's no place for a 12 plus rider in their team. I think that is right and I share Mr Ford's regret that this mean that British fans will be deprived from watching Chris Holder in action on a regular basis. We are facing a crisis in our sport in this country. I speak not just as a life long Coventry fan but as a fan of speedway in Britain. We have to realistically accept the sport is under threat, financially, in many areas. Yes I want to see the best in the World. But is this sustainable? Sadly I think not.
cityrebel
I just hope the promoters don't put the admission prices up for this watered down product.

I'd have put money on sycophants defending Ward but to deny he said when it's there for all to see is taking it to a new Height. SS says Ward will be there in March, Ray c and Starman say he won't. Come on guys at least get your stories straight or are your memories as short as Wards.
tocha
I read it Ward has washed his hands of Poole. It could be interpreted in two ways. One is your's the other might be just a comment to say that neither he nor Chris are now riding for Poole.

Ben91
Oh no, Darcy Ward is upset that the strength of the top league in Britain is weaker now. Big deal.
SteveLyric2
Darcy will be over in Poole later in the year when it warms up to keep a watchful eye on Brady and Jack. He had already made it known that he would probably not be over for the Foundation meeting - which is to raise money for other injured sports people, not Darcy himself - because of the likelihood the british weather would be too cold for him.
Joe Beevers
Sounds like Darcy Ward has been caught or had a post misinterpreted on Twitter. It isn't the first time he has said the wrong thing on Twitter including the Nicki Pedersen statement and the Tai comment. I think Darcy should quit Twitter and I am fortunate enough never to have read or been on that site being a grown up adult. Those sites can easily misinterpret any given sentance.
waiheke1
I've criticised Darcy in the past, but can't see anything wrong with this tweet. He and holder have been the two stars you associate with poole for this decade, so it is an end of an era. And this year's top flight will be arguably the weakest ever. That's what he's pointing out here, and it's hard to deny that it's true.
