Plymouth 2017 N/l?

It would seem to me that Plymouth have to get a good 2nd heat leader to back up Boxall, with a few good heat leaders not yet committed, quite a choice still exists James Shanes 8.53, Ellis Perks 8.25, Kyle Hughes 8.67 or Oliver Greenwood 8.00 unless any of these are not racing National League in 2017?

Greenwood has retired.

Personally if you wanna make speedway more professional, then yes to team suits

If every promotion did what Eastbourne did, where they get fans or businesses to sponsor each riders suits .

Which costs £450 and then the sponsor gets to keep it at the end of the season.

I agree team suits CAN look professional BUT 5 riders in team suits & 2 others in something completely different look very unprofessional therefore defeating the whole objective. Speedway in 2017 should be all about running within ones budget & not wasting money on something that's not needed.

I would have preferred Kyle Hughes at number one.. leaving more for better second strings.. boxal never been reliable for travelling and over 10 average.. Kyle has good track knowledge of Plymouth as well

Boxall's unreliability has been his tendency to let teams down totally rather than miss individual fixtures and the quality of his machinery which has, at times, been awful.

Looking at the past few seasons, he put a full year in for Kent & Rye House in 2013 & 2014 and did so again for the Rockets in 2015 until he got injured.

He has the highest PL average of any rider competing in the NL next season and will apparently be staying in Cornwall during 2017. He's also an acknowledged track expert.

There is the risk that he will move to the PL but with some good equipment I see no reason why he won't be the top rider in the NL.

Hughes was badly injured (twice) last year and he also has a reputation for poor machinery. Even taking into account averages, given the choice its Boxall for me.

Plymouth have definitely made one top signing : new centre green announcer Tim Allan is one of the best in the game and if Graham Hambley is well enough to take his usual place in the box they will have some of the best presentation in the country.

I watched boxhal around the SBA last year and was impressed although hearing he didn't make an away fixture concerned me.. I would disagree on Kyle though his kit is always on form I had spent a lot of time with Kyle in past years always looked after his kit and he is very good around the SBA.. and it would leave a bigger chunk to allow for some higher average riders into the mix.

I am really sure Laurence and Mark have made sure of the riders commitment and I wish the devils the very best of luck in 2017.

Not sure how the likes of Boxall can get back in to this league ,,when the likes of Clegg,,,Branford and Ash Morris ,,,Liam Carr can not, seems stupid to me and unfair....

Clegg, Branford and Morris can all ride in the NL just like Boxall. It's just that to do so they would have to give up their PL/CL places so that (like Boxall) they are without a higher league team.

Said most Rye House fans for the best part of the last 12-13 years.

Most riders need two leagues to make it financially viable

Looks like Steve is happy to ride for enjoyment now if he is just going to do NL for Plymouth. Funnily enough we may see the best Boxall we have for a long time with not too much pressure on his shoulders. Shame he never kicked on he could have been a decent EL rider without a doubt if not better.

I have got steve a job in the construction industry in cornwall this year, so no pressure, and mostly end of week meetings

Well done "Captain" most UK riders should have at least a part time job as well as riding once & a bit per week. Did I see somewhere that a National league reserve had a full time mechanic? if that is fact then it's plain ridiculous!!!!

I think that statement was more positive spin than fact. Many riders could quote a full time mechanic (Dad/Mate), catering/dietary specialist (Mum/GF with sandwiches), Grand Prix level bikes (5 yr old Hans Andersen Engine) doesn't mean the Rickardsson Express is going to roll up.
