marko
Don't think there is any news but imo the notion of someone coming in spending millions just for the land, Is not likely to build something that isn't going to generate a fairly reasonable return. I think we have what we have until the family who own the site decide to sell it, that might not be until after the Thames gateway project is finalised and then that will be that, good bye Arena Essex. The site is huge and potentially worth hundreds of millions to a big developer, Imagine how many houses or flats you could build on that land. liam
Their is talk of a new football stadium being built in the area so I would guess that the promotion would have been trying for a speedway track to be included in any new project. liam
For what Football Club would a stadium be built for?Grays I would guess, they have been without a stadium since there one was sold to build houses. Iam sure there has been talk in the past of a new sports stadium being built where Thurrock rugby club and Thurrock athletics stadium is which would be used by Grays and maybe Cook might have tried getting a track built. Obviously it would only be a small venue but let's be honest it wouldn't take much for it to be better than arena essex. Iam not saying that is going to happen and for all I no that has been ruled out already Iam just sure it was being mentioned. East End Fan
We keep hearing talk of a new stadium...just like the past rumours at Reading, Long Eaton, Cradley, etc...I'll believe it when I see it. Looks unlikely at present with new river crossings and roads planned directly in the area of Arena. IMO Jon Cook, if he is serious about a new venue for our team, should be looking elsewhere along the Thames Valley. Looks like a lot of vacant land between Barking and Dartford..Is any of that accessible and available ? And IF that was a possibility, is there the finance in place ? Stadiums ain't cheap, however simple.
liam
Did Cook say anything in the speedway star about moving leagues?
marko
In short, No, they want to concentrate on the play offs then focus on 2018 afterwards. Persoanlly I think it would be foolish for any promotion to commit to anything for 2018 at this stage without knowing what will happen. East End Fan
I simply hope that Lakeside are able to operate and I am cool about which league it is. I happen to like the National League and with the money that is banded about in the Championship and Premiership, I would guess that the N.L. is attractive financially. cityrebel
Not attractive to the majority of hammers fans though, that is the problem.
KevH
According to Peter Oakes, there is big news about 'Lakeside 2018' in tomorrow's Speedway Star.
liam
Cook intends to run premiership next season, he said the support was good for National League level but only half the fan base thought it was for them. He has told the landlords the dates required and he has asked to attend the pre agm meeting. He also said he was confident of moving to a brand new two wheeled sporting facility in the near future where the plan will then be to run both Premiership and National Leagues. liam
if that's the case then happy days but why are the fans the last to know again Last bit of the article he said he should be able to confirm at end of the season.

East End Fan
Promises, Promises.....As I've said before, I'll believe it when I see it. New stadium will take huge amounts of good things to happen for it to become reality. And where is the finance coming from ? With the decisions still being considered for the new Dartford crossing, my guess is that the Arena Essex site could easily be smack in the middle of all that. marko
How about a little bit of arithmetic this Thursday? Jon Cook + Informormation = Lies How can anyone trust a thing this man says anymore?
Grachan
Why should Lakeside be allowed in the Premiership? Promotion and relegation has been introduced so they should be made to work their way back up.
