Lakeside 2017

What happens if nobody turns up to 'impress' for this marvellous, career opportunity? Do Lakeside continue with a 6 man team......or do they call the local job centre?

Sorry but this smacks of utter desperation; not to mention unprofessionalism.

From what I know There a few already booked in with some experience of nl racing we are coming all the way fromGlasgow for it we would have maybe liked to get a run out the week before but don't know if they are allowed on track for practice

Pretty sure Edinburgh did this last year also and now we got Dan Bewley from it and look what he turned out to be

Cousins would be my pick of that lot,has some experience goes reasonable well round Rye so could suit Lakeside ..However you never know they might un earth a little gem on the day....

No it doesn't in the slightest. It's a smart move if anything, rather than plumping for a rider that the promotion aren't sure on they're giving riders a chance to impress around their track. They might find a prospect that could otherwise have gone under the radar.

and in the same note its all well and good finding a prospect that rides other tracks well but if they cannot get to grips with Lakeside they could be in bother before they start

Can't see what the problem is to be honest, I would guess they have a few riders in mind but why not invite as many riders as possible to see if they can find someone better. Good luck to all the riders who do go it's a great opportunity. Hopefully they unearth a gem.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. We will soon find out. It's just that it seems uncomfortable to me to have two three pointers at reserve with not much of a record to work on. It doesn't seem a balanced team at at all to me on paper , although as we all know, Speedwáy matches are not won on paper so I'll wait and see , and hope that those who say NL racing is exciting will be proved correct.

To a point Tony but if you go back to the early 90's where Terry Russell would often talk about the "Eastbourne trickery" then that's what i am pertaining too and back then they were in my opinion just as bad if not worse than Poole's attempts at win at all costs in recent times

This was very much the Dugard's doing. Watch the 1995 cup clash between the Hammers & Eastbourne, where Bob Dugard is the instigator of the shenanigans and bad feelings off track, and Martin does the same on track. Jon Cook just stands back, quietly filling in his programme.

I love the idea of having an audition or trial for the last team spot. It means we get to see lots of riders, unknown to us, in action and if we have to make changes or injuries occur, we have a bit of knowledge to make decisions in the future.

LAKESIDE HAMMERS PRESS RELEASE:

:::::::

The Southend Sensation at Roots Hall TONIGHT!

Our Southend born, Hammers number one Ben Morley will be making a special guest appearance at tonight’s crucial SkyBet League One fixture between Southend United FC and fellow promotion chasers Bolton Wanderers.

The visit to Roots Hall has been arranged to help promote the start of the Hammers 2017 National League season and, as a massive crowd is expected, huge Blues fan Morley is delighted to be invited.

Hammers Club officials will also be taking the opportunity to spread the word with leaflets and in person, with the Hammers Community Liaison Manager Mark Sexton adding:

“The Hammers would like to extend their thanks to James Sharples of SUFC’s Commercial team for his assistance in helping us promote the launch of our new speedway season.

We’d love any Hammers or Blues fans attending the match to share pictures of Ben’s visit via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #BluesBen (and mentioning The Hammers and The Blues if possible!) and we’ll look to arrange the opportunity to watch some races from the Centre Green at The Raceway for the best."

If any Hammers fans attending tonight are able to assist and help the club by giving out leaflets before the game, please call Mark Sexton on 07951 698363 who will confirm arrangements.
