Somerset 2017

Recommended Posts

No number one and no stand out reserve pairing either. Tungate struggled when he wasn't at reserve last year so to have him at no 1 is crazy in this league.

Starke & Wright should be good as 2nd strings but can't see the rest of the team picking up the points needed to win meetings

Out of the two sides that's moved up Rye House has at least put a competitive side together - now has Somerset been sensible and not over spent and Rye have got that bit very wrong only time will tell .

I would guess the former.

To be fair, most of Rye's team will be subsidised by the winter fuel allowance.

Don't care what supporters of other clubs say, we are Rebels and we will stand by our side, peopl took us lightly last season and look what happened.

That was in the PL which was weaker.

Look at the difference in these two teams and you will see what we mean:

Kaspazak, Newman, J Holder, B Kurtz, Andersen, Klindt, Shanes

VS

Tungate, Starke, Hougaard, Wright, Josh.G, Allen, Graversen

Riding in the EL last year for Swindon - Tungate was a late replacement for the absent Dakota North. He started poorly and was on the verge of being dropped but rode through this bad form at reserve and that was the catalyst he needed to raise his game. However both he and Josh G went missing more often than you would want or expect and now they are the top 2 in this team. While I like them both - Zummerzet will need a bucket load of luck next season. One thing that was consistent about the 2016 Roobins was their inconsistency and this was mainly down to these two riders.

Poole and Rye House stand out from the rest.

Poole & Rye House will also have the biggest wages as well if the money Bomber is on is correct.

You either live within your means & pay what you can or put the club at risk.

I'll support whoever comes to the tapes in the Rebels colours in March.

Remember this league isn't the Elite League it is a step down from that 2016 product. Alos remember our 2016 PL side swept all before them despite not being tipped by many.

In effect we have replaced BWD with Hougaard and Jan takes up the number 7 spot that Zach and guests filled last year so if he scores points then fine. I think you would back Paddy to score more than BWD at the moment at a slightly higher level. The rest all know what they are doing 'at EL level' as they have had plenty of experience there. The key man is Jake and Somerset fans know exactly what he is about and he will surprise many in 2017 I think. If he starts at reserve he won't be there long and whoever replaces him will prove just as useful in that position.

At the end of the day Garry's track record of building teams is pretty damn good so lets trust him because if it isn't working he will makes the changes he feels he needs to. Think back to 2013 when Stefan was axed for Wrighty mid/late season, no one liked that but the rest mentioned below is history shall we say!

Premier League Champions 2013, 2016 PL KO Cup - 2013/15 PL League Cup 2016 PL Shield 2014/16 PL Pairs Champs 2013/16 PL Fours Champs 2014

Looks like Rye have gone cheque book speedway, lets hope it works.

:D

Doesn't look the strongest side on paper but for most they will be a tough nut to crack on their own shale, as they have been in previous PL seasons. Can see some hidings on the road though. Can see Hougaard having a good year.
