89buttons
Having watched heeps at Ipswich every week this season he's working really very hard on and off the track and getting the results! There's bags of talent in there, now the work ethic seems to have vastly improved he's starting to show what he's capable of, being an Ipswich regular I've also had the opportunity over the past few years to see the best and worst of tungate....on his current inconsistent poor form and heeps great form I know who I'd prefer in my team! I think the Somerset track will suit him well and with a little guidance from the home boys to get dialled in, looking across at the others reserves in the league I can't see him fearing anyone as should score very well alongside jake Allen and it'll certainly help us at Ipswich him being on the bike more! Lawson is a better rider than all three outgoing and Kerr is in good form, he scored well riding at no.3 for Poole for a month! Another good attribute the two of them bring is they're both sharp gaters! Not sure you're all of a sudden a league winning team but on current form certainly a much stronger outfit imo! Najjer
Anyone who doesn't think our new team is stronger is having a laugh. There is no doubt with Lawson we are much stronger - especially if Tungate comes back in for Kerr too. Looking at it, those changes could have been made before Somerset got new averages this week. Tungate could be slotted back in for Kerr then this week with his new average as a like-for-like.That's basically the way I saw it in my previous post - as like I said using the new averages it'll total just over 46.00. Seems strange that it hasn't had BSPA approval yet though when we've been issued new averages as of today, so who knows! Would be very harsh on Kerr as he seems pretty solid, but seems madness to let Tungate get a new average and then bin him off, if we don't plan to bring him back. poolebolton
I would keep Kerr, he was pretty damn good for us. I would have kept Tungate. You still don't have a number 1 though. Either do we, but our rumoured number number 1 is Milik and other such riders(Pawlicki) You have Josh G and Paddy not the same class. Lawson is bang average in any top league, sorry but has never stepped up. My opinion, I think you will stay about the same and be near bottom. Near a number 1.

Where are all the pre-season Poole fans who said Kasprzak would do the business ?

SteveZodiac
Can't really see the point of these changes unless there is more to replacing Tungate than meets the eye, as they don't strengthen the team.

markyb
So so sorry for the fans of Somerset speedway - they appear to have been let down by inept promotion / management who believed they could compete in a already watered down "top flight" league with dreadful resources. Their recent rider changes in the last few days prove that they are still clueless. In previous seasons have attended Somerset on many occasions, and making specific travelling plans on my way down to Devon and Cornwall from my Midlands base to experience one of the best UK speedway circuits. Alas, no intention of repeating this any time soon. Expect Somerset speedway hierarchy will not be bothered about me no longer attending a few times during the season, but speedway fans are not daft and sure there will be numerous others who may agree with me too. Always look across to the Oak Tree Arena from the M5 - but that's is it from me for the time being.

Yes the team aren't the all conquering version of the PL last season but the racing is still pretty damn good from what i have seen. The club are living within their means and in all honesty were not that far away from winning more points than they currently have on the board with two close defeats at home to Swindon and Kings Lynn. They also didn't get stuffed by a powerful Wolves by as much as Leicester did at home last night. The true fans of Somerset appreciate the good racing win or lose and if you look at our history i think we are going over a similar cycle that we have before once again. When we opened we were CL and struggled but the racing was superb. We improved, won a few things and moved up to PL. We struggled but the racing was superb. We improved and won more Trophies than most in the League and we got used to that regular winning feeling which was a nice bonus. We moved to the Premiership and have struggled but..... We will improve i am sure! Rome wasn't built in a day. One thing that would be nice though is that we get a visiting team with their own seven riders to ride against as opposed to riders missing only to be replaced by OTA specialists each week. I don't blame the teams but the whole system is getting farcial really. No Wells again this week for Rye House but Rooboy is back who was very good for Wolverhampton. Ok with their changes the Somerset double upper situation may change now as others may have priority but the home team have fielded their own riders (barring Paddy once when a guest was denied and RR used) each week I think.

From a field to top level British Speedway, enjoying a successful journey (not so clueless), on a great racing track, with passionate promotors / supporters. One of Speedway's real positives.
