Rye House 2017

Rye will be lucky to finish above Leicester this year. Feel for the loyal suporters as they deserve more, new signings are terrible IMHO

 

What a silly statement, Leicester are 11 points behind us (they only have 10 all season) we have lost only once at home and that was down to Kennett our "No1" bottling heats 13 and 15.

 

I do though feel that the play offs are just out our reach thanks to being completely stiched up by KL TWICE

The right changes can get any team into the play-offs at this moment.

There may be more truth in this statement than we care to believe. This merry-go-round of riders is surely not the spirit of team racing as seen over the years. Juggling averages, wholesale changes, riders moving from one club and then turning up somewhere else means we could be supporting a very different team come the play offs from the one that opened the fixtures in March. Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but I guess it's possible to have a completely different 1-7 in October from the the one you started with despite the transfer window cut off.

Not wishing to pick an argument but we got turned over at home by Swindon in the KOC so that makes 2 home defeats.

There a are potentially 3 "Banana Skins" in the coming home meetings, Swindon and Belle Vue who have both tasted success at Hoddesdon and Poole when surely Eddie Kennett will be out to prove a point one way or the other. Time will tell.

We're seeing riders signing for Premiership clubs on old Elite League averages too. Teams were built to Premier League averages pre-season. Swindon have a bargain in Musielak while Lahti could prove to be a bargain at Poole too. There are plenty of riders with existing EL averages that could come into teams on those figures and make a mockery of them for sure in this league.

 

For example a team of Iversen, Zagar, Kildemand, Woffinden, Lindback and two two pointers could be assembled within the points limit now if old EL averages are to be used.

That's where our lack of experience in the management roles hinders us. Not enough knowledge of riders and European speedway in the initial team building and all the changes we've seen at Rye so far.

Really? To 42 points? Don't those five alone add up to more than 42?

That side would bankrupt a small nation, let alone a speedway club. Anyway, it would go against the BMR promotions policy of only signing UK based riders

Not sure that's the case now. On BT's coverage of Rye' s visit to Wolves it was said that the promotion had been speaking to a GP rider.

If that's the policy it is a bad one when looking to win the top division title. There are certain riders to avoid of course that are based abroad but if handled right (like we did when we had Linus originally) then it can work.

I'd hope that the new promotion realise that policy is absolute folly now they have a taste of the top league.

 

The changes made were pointless & showed a lack of any European rider knowledge.

 

Look at what a good signing Musielak has been for Swindon & Lahti is on a bargain average if you have followed his scores in Sweden the last couple of years. I'd suspect Jenson & Schroeck have never heard of these riders.

Nikolaj B Jakobsen signed for Berwick to replace Bridger/Jacobs, whats everyone's thoughts on him? Seems a decent rider around Shielfield park but how was he on the away tracks in the Championship?

 

We should have kept him last season. Looked the real deal in his season with us in 2015, almost achieved his assessed seven point average that year which isn't heard of very much.

 

We should have tried to find a way to accommodate him this season too at the start and with the averages changing from today seeing some riders dropping more points from their averages we should have tried to find a way to get him in the team if he was available to come over and race for a Saturday night track.

He will be a fantastic signing, spectacular rider, will do well in the championship, not just at home.

Out of the remaining six scheduled home meetings only one is on a Saturday, four on a Wednesday and one Bank holiday Monday so Saturday night track has sadly become a misnomer.

Never thought I would say this but I'm now tired of the so called Premier league as a competition and the old comments

about the previous Elite league are true that there are just not enough fixtures and veriety of teams.

At least we had pretty much Saturday speedway in the old Premier but not any more and to me that is more important

than the teams strenghth and play off challenge.

If that's the policy it is a bad one when looking to win the top division title. There are certain riders to avoid of course that are based abroad but if handled right (like we did when we had Linus originally) then it can work.

 

Agree with the bottom part.

 

We had Linus & NBJ as young riders looking to make a name for themselves. We also had Ekberg who although I think had raced in UK before, was a fantastic signing for the club. It's about building up a knowledge of riders and contacts in the speedway world.
