keef robin
It's not an easy one to answer. I believe social change has led to kids doing less and less outside. Plus the expense of it all. Lack of exposure on main stream TV means that fewer people know about speedway and go to watch it, let alone want to take it up. Interesting that the demise of West Indies cricket had much to do with Caribbean lads taking up basketball instead of wanting to be fast bowlers due to TV exposure and the dream of earning mega bucks in the NBA. Similar with the rise of footballers salaries over here, with kids dreaming of being millionaires taking them towards football and away from motor sports. All you need is a pair of boots. I recently heard of a rider selling a second hand engine for £2,500. Not many can afford that kind of expenditure. You see very few kids playing cricket or even football in the street now. Used to watch test cricket on the Beeb then you wanted to go out and play the game. Sky and computer games probably changed that. Dont see kids doing cycle speedway now either.

Kids these days have short attention spans. They ain't gonna sit there 6 hours a day for 5 days. That's why 20/20 cricket was dreamed up. Perfect for TV, non stop action and over in 3 hours. Â When I was a kid you couldn't get a public tennis court during Wimbledon and for a week after. Nowadays you don't have that problem, if you can find any.
hackneyrocket
I hope Ellis is going to be okay after his fall last night. If he's not fit for our next home meeting, I see Grondal has been released by Swindon. Wouldn't be a bad stand in.

Guest
Get rid of Schroeck. Liability. Â Can you be more specific in regard to the criticism of Peter Schroeck please. To have such an opinion indicates you have concerns in regard to the team manager.

I did not make a comment in regard to him - that was by Chris who is another Poster. For my part I cannot see that Schroeck has done anything to cause concern in regard to his team management at Rye House. That's why I asked Chris for more comment on Schroeck's role in regard to the team. Hob Nob seems to indicate there is criticism somewhere in regard to Schroeck - where is it? And as for the comment from Panthers89 - what are you on about?

It's clear Harris was quick and that Rye were enough down to have used it at that point. Loads around us had it pencilled in that it would be used then... It wasn't and Rye got a 5-1.. Opportunity wasted!

allthegearbutnaeidea
Â Â Â I wasn't there Bandits4eva but if your Post is correct, what's the problem? I'm no expert but it would of been an 8-1 and not a 5-1 and Wells didn't exactly score many points with his nice little black and white hat on did he. hammer1969
I was also there and Banditsforeva is correct, the problem is the Manager, the TR should have been used at the first opportunity as nobody knows what will happen in following races.
