Ben91
Actually, that is what I thought but young Ben told me I was incorrect. Maybe the principle of mathmatics has change since I was at school. It was in the distant past after all! I'm sure in the past riders have been rounded up when their averages have been converted, regardless of the third decimal place being below five. Can't see it anywhere in the rulebook to confirm it either way. Logic and Speedway rarely go hand-in-hand after all, so it wouldn't surprise me if it changed on a case by case basis! we'd have won by then Let's hope so. waiheke1
What started as a good first 3 signings has gone wrong with Kennett and Robbo.Partially agree.Kennett is a decent signing imo. He averaged more than harris or nicholls last year, and pre dominantly riding as a hl. Using your converted averages, he is better value than nicholls, albeit nicholls average was low due to his scores at home. Robson I agrew is guaranteed to drop a couple of points. That said all the rye fans seem happy enough, and weaker 2nd string is probably about right for him. I think it's a solid top 5, not going to be chsmpions but could be on the fringes of a play off place.

Crazy robin
People harping on about heats 13 & 15 tend to overlook there are many heats where they'll come up against lesser riders. The likes of Doyle can only have 5 rides maximum. Even if he wins every race, it doesn't guarantee his team mates will be able to back him up 6 ride maximums are possible in 2017 I think as they can come in for any rider & not just wait for their heat. STEVEHOLS54
Really? I must've missed that one. How's that gonna work? Like when Swindon go 10 points down in most away matches where he can come in as a tactical after heat 5 ;-) Hope that's not the case as prefer any team stay in a match for as long as possible as we all want exciting meetings
Crazy robin
Really? I must've missed that one. How's that gonna work? A team is 10 points down & in comes Doyle for one of the riders in that race. A bit like the old tactical rule worked & how they do it in Sweden. I was told this but have not seen it 100% confirmed so could easily be wrong.
Mark
You have a good solid side here, all try hard and are racers. I read that Scott Nicholls will still be doing the GP stuff on BTSport so that may need a juggle on fixtures.
Dandelion
Dunno if anyone else has pointed this out, I'm probably just being pedantic but this quote from Kennett is wrong, "2016 was one of my best seasons, and definitely one of my most consistent. The fact that I finished on top of the Premier League averages proves how consistent it was." What about Craig Cook and Danny King? I like Kennett but he's not THAT good, I think Rye's team so far is very good though, bit surprised they went for Robson and not Busk though, but maybe he's wanted at King's Lynn 1. Kennett 2. Watt 3. Nicholls 4. Robbo 5. Harris Strong top 5 in my eyes, and very British Edited November 18, 2016 by Dandelion

Surely your top 3 are good for 7, and reserves for 1. I reckon 8 down ;-)

Oh blimey, I forgot about the tactical ride!I always thought 10 points was too low in the old Premier League, especially now you get a point for losing by 6 or less. Get an 8-1 in the tactical race and all of a sudden you could be only 3 points behind. I think 14 is a fairer losing margin to allow a tactical ride. Mark
Think with the team mentioned we will be 10 behind before heat 5 in most away meetings sadly. you need to check Nicholls away 2016 average and you have the 2016 Premiership top average rider. Plus Bomber. Not many sides will be matching that strength in depth with the 50 point average.

Ben91
Really? I must've missed that one. How's that gonna work? Not seen it announced, I'd suspect the only time a rider in the top five can replace another rider is if in-meeting R/R is needed due to an injury. So the only time you'd be seeing Doyle take six rides is if R/R is in operation, be it from the start of a meeting or during one.

Can a number 1 take an injury replacement ride if say the fifth averaged rider withdraws injured? That doesn't seem fair

That doesn't seem fair Not got a clue on that one, would expect it is like R/R that is in place from the start of a meeting though, one rider above the injured riders average and everyone else below. One of the reasons strong reserves are still needed, if we have a meeting where Robbo withdraws and Davey's having an off night we'd be up a creek if the reserves are bobbins. Guest
RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE: ::::::: THE FIFTH SIGNING: SPECIAL K COMPLETES TOP FIVE! Team BMR is delighted to post the news that so many Rye House fans have been waiting all week to hear: that that Rye House No.1 and captain Edward Kennett will be returning for a fourth straight season – and eighth in total – in the Rockets’ colours as they prepare to take their first ever flight into the sport’s top tier. The former World Cup international will be aiming to build on a 2016 in which he was in white hot form for the Hertfordshire club, racking up a massive 303 points from 27 official matches to head the national Premier League standings with an all-inclusive average of 9.77. Excluding bonus points, that mark will convert to 9.27 and place him just ahead of Scotty Nicholls on 9.23 in the starting averages come next spring. The Rockets’ new-look top five will be completed by Chris “Bomber” Harris, Davey Watt and the returning Stuart Robson. Rye House Co-Promoter Steve Jenson is delighted to confirm his skipper’s return. “Like Robbo (Stuart Robson), it was a no brainer really. Eddie had a terrific season this year, and he’s played a big part in the team building process for 2017. “I believe that 2017 is going to be Eddie’s year. He’s very excited about the New Era of the Premiership at Rye House, and he’s going to thrive on the quiet competition he will face from Scott (Nicholls), Chris (Harris), Davey (Watt) and Robbo. “Eddie’s signing also completes a top five of four Brits and one honourary one. I don’t think any other side will be able to match that statistic, and for us it’s going to be fantastic for team spirit.” Edward sets his own scene on next term, saying, “2016 was one of my best seasons, and definitely one of my most consistent. The fact that I finished on top of the Premier League averages proves how consistent it was. “I’m really looking forward to Rye House moving up to the Premiership, and I have to say I think we’re putting a fantastic Team together. Having Scott (Nicholls) and Chris (Harris) in the side is such a big plus. “I talked to Scott at the end of last season, and did my bit to attract him here to Rye. He is a class act. “I’ve known Davey (Watt) for years. He seems totally re-focused, and I think he is going to be another key man for us next year. “Robbo (Stuart Robson) had a brilliant 2016, and he fully deserved the Mr Rocket Rider of the Year award. As everyone knows, he is such a great trier, and he’s also a firm friend. “It’s the same with Chris (Harris). He and I go back a long way (to 2009) to when we first rode together at Coventry, and it is fantastic to get him into Rye House. “We may not have an out and out No.1, but there’s going to be a lot of friendly competition for that spot, and I want to hold onto it. Being captain as well is personally fantastic, and as I said earlier I am really looking forward to the new season. “It can’t start soon enough.” Rye House Press Release: ::::::::: WHO’S NEXT? Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…. …. The sixth BMR Rockets’ signing for 2017 will be announced at 9.30 on Monday morning.
