Rye House 2017

How was P+P anyone go?

A couple of hundred there. All riders plus George Hunter had a spin. Track slick as usual. Eddie slid off and under the air fence on the second bend, but no damage done. Still no sign of the new kevlars.

I was looking at a pic yesterday from P&P at Rye from 30 years ago, some big characters back then and 30 years on a team capable of the play offs..

The Stand that used to be in front of the Ref's Box and the Ref''s Box are missing. No access to the First and Second Bend Banking which is still incomplete and the stands that were on the Third and Fourth bends are still in their trailers but with 2 days and 22 hours to go still plenty of time to get it sorted.

With the stadium still resembling a building site, I'm a little concerned for the future of Rye House. Has the team been built as a last hoorah because this stadium has no appeal to bring in new customers. Hope I'm wrong

If that was the case, surely they would've stayed in the second division and saved a lot of money?

As long as the team do well and the track produces decent racing people will attend. Progress stadium wise might not be happening as quickly as people would like but steps forward are steps forward.

I don't think that anyone doubts the Management's commitment to making Rye House one of the "go to" venues and they have proved this by building an exciting team with league winning potential but it is the implementation of the Stadium Improvements that causes concern. One look at what is happening there is enough to see that when completed it will be a good facility but progress has been painfully slow. Yesterday evening there was substantially less available spectator accommodation than at the last meeting last season. The lack of a Refs box opposite the Start/Finish line can be temporarily sorted by erecting one of those Access Towers and no doubt the stands on the third and forth bends can soon be erected from their trailers but to my untrained eye the banking on turns one and two still needs a fair bit of work. The other bone of contention, the Car Park is still full of potholes and there was a largish pool of water at the Stadium end.Hopefully the Off Track action will have been as Dynamic as the On Track stuff by the time BT Sport come to visit but it in my view it will take a minor miracle to have the place "ready" for Saturdays anticipated Large Crowd. I sincerely look forward to being proved wrong.
