hammer1969
If they won't have Saturday meetings when there will be a clash with Grand Prix meetings does that mean one of the team will be a current GP rider? Also as a couple of meetings will be Monday nights has the deal already been done for Sky to screen them? As there is "quiet competition" for the number 1 spot will Eddie still be riding for us? Roll on Monday! And team BMR as you seem to be reading this forum please can we have somewhere at ground level where we can buy pens, boards, badges etc. we can't all manage those stairs up to the bar where they have been recently! Sidney the robin
Good luck to Rye House you seem to have really positive people at the helm of the club hope the move works out longterm.
Froglord
Really positive news coming from BMR, they've been doing a great job since the takeover! Such a rarity to have good news in British speedway. Having such good rail links to central London I hope that can tap into that a bit

Pretty sure they'll relocate once the rebuild is complete. Big mistake booting out the old souvenir people in the first place. I refuse to buy anything from that woman
SCB
£18 admission?! RIP British Speedway. With the league getting about 25% weaker I was expecting to pay less not more! If EL club think they can weaken the product by ~25% but charge more than £15 I think they're in for a shock!  The premiership is a glorified Premier League now. Rye House have been £16 for 3 or 4 years. They'd have probably put up the admission even if they'd stayed in the second tier.
hackneyrocket
I really don't understand the problem of paying £18 plus programme to watch 2hrs of entertainment. These boys risk their lives to ride for a club, compared to panzy footballers who get paid a fortune and the spectators ripped off to the tune of an average £60-£70 per game.

I thought the admission between EL and PL were similar anyway? I know it was cheaper for me and my daughter to attend Brandon than most PL clubs last season. A family of 4 admission to Paradise Wildlife Park is £56. Almost £60 to see a load of sad looking dopey animals. If I wanted to do that I'd just go up to the Midlands to Cradley.

Glaring difference of course is that these will be 'one offs'..  Speedway needs a family of two adults and two 12+ year old kids to pay £48 at least 19 times a year....  Simply doesnt happen in anywhere like the quantity needed sadly....

Aces51
So many clubs are in financial difficulties which is why we can no longer afford the top stars, why facilities are not updated, why they cannot afford professional PR and why every year clubs struggle to survive.  This year again steps have been taken to reduce costs to try to enable clubs to at least break even. Excluding a billionaire backer it is the only realistic hope for the future of speedway. Maybe , just maybe, it may enable the sport to get on a sounder financial footing, consolidate and start to grow. To suggest that these financial savings be given away by reducing admission prices seems to me to be madness. Knocking a pound or so off the price is unlikely to have any great affect on attendances and any more than that is a risk too great because it could lead to wholesale closures. The hope that £10 speedway would increase the crowds in the significant numbers needed to increase the total income through the turnstiles is not a risk the sport can take in its present precarious position.  Ask yourself why international manufacturers reduce the size of the product and charge the same price to maintain or increase their profit margins. They don't reduce the price to below the manufacturing cost in the hope that a massive increase in sales will at least make up the difference. Speedway in the UK is doing the same. It may not work but it is much less of a risk than price reduction. Edited November 13, 2016 by Aces51
Ben91
The sport is too expensive to watch, there's no adequate justification for it either. 15 heats of Speedway at £18 works out at £1.20 a heat. You can watch a football league match just up the road at Stevenage for £18, that works out at 20p per minute of entertainment.  The new Premiership is marginally stronger than the old Premier League, paying £18 for it is too much. Paying £16 for Premier League racing, especially with the team we had last year, was too much as it was.
SteveLyric2
Hope the £18 doesn't set a trend?! Although the likes of Wolves are already at that level. Not sure of all others?  2016 prices for PL sides ranged from £15 to £17.50 so not much of a differential between EL and PL.  You can understand why PL clubs were so adamantly against the proposed EL price reductions a few years ago when the EDRs were first introduced, weakening the top level with no risk to the 2nd tier!! poole keith
the rye promotion certainly appear to be pretty clued up with the motorsport business so reckon they know what theyre doing.there are of course geographical considerations to pricing, something that would sell at a certain price easily in one part of the country would be unachievable in another part
