Most In-demand Riders For The 2017 Season

Recommended Posts

Robert Lambert must be a rider tha most promoters would want . I hope Kings Lynn can hold on to him as watching him this season was one of the very few highlights of the Stars season.

Lambert will stay at King's Lynn if they left him go that would just be suicide. Kurtz I just can't see riding for Poole but needs a year away. If somerset come up well its then a no brainer.

I don't think it will be to long before Robert will be getting his place in amonst the GP's. He has come along well these past few years, just hope like a few other riders in the past he dosen't fall oot of form and sudenly disapear from speedway, but I doubt it very much a young lad who will be going a long way in the sport.

If Lambert decides he wants to ride elsewhere there is nothing Lynn could do about it, the riders have the power. Personally I think the day will come when he will demand more £'s than Lynn are prepared to pay and he will move to one of the chequebook clubs but hopefully that won't be yet as he is one of the few good things we have going for us at the moment.

If you look at the average of the third heat leader at the start of this season, it was 6.34. This to me makes Kurtz and Lambert very poor value, as they are not heat leaders IMO.

For me, Batchelor is a steal on 5.26, Richard Lawson looks very good value at 5.83 and has a lot of potential to improve. Nicholls would make a good secondstring on his average.

Harris for me is a no. He lost nearly a point off his average riding at a track he should know like the back of his hand. He is only on a downward spiral and on his average would most likely be forced to ride in a heat leader position.

Batch is on a low average but he is on a downward spiral as well. Lawson i'm just convinced is a small track rider. Lambert and Kurtz might be on high average but they could both be GP riders in the future which Lawson won't be. Kurtz I can see going on loan to either Leicester or a new team.

Kurtz is yet to show he could be a heat leader over here but i disagree about Lambert, think he would fit most teams as a decent third heat leader.

Batchelor will be snapped up on that average

Lawson to me isnt going to improve much more hen what he is already and him at 5.83 is a lot of points to use up as a second string, personally Ellis on 5.60 is going to improve past him.

Nicholls to me would make a great addition at the right track if not wanted at Belle Vue.

A Wolves top 4 of Lindgren, Masters , Thorsell and Nicholls or Harris looks good to me.

Of course Harris and Nicholls are on downward spirals but they are attractive on their averages as they will give 100% every time and if they end up as second strings then you wont find many better

Surely to be in demand you have to be on an average that is deemed good value?

Nicholls, Harris and dare i say it Batchelor are all on what may be seen as good value averages. Kurtz isnt and may find it difficult to get a team place in the Elite league.

Think Poole would rather have Ellis at number 2 on 5.60 then Kurtz on 6.44

Oh absolutely

Most attractive riders will be those that have been here before, not done great but looking for a regular team place like Adam Skornicki, Tobiasz Musielak etc

Don't find either of them attractive

Prefer the ladies myself

I'm no fan of Dickie the Gater but I reckon he's got far more improvement in him than Batchelor, Who looks a distant shadow of the rider he was. I think the DW accident and his subsequent MX crash in Australia have really affected him.

With the AGM starting on Monday just some of my thoughts for riders who will be in high demand(just top 5 riders). Would love an PL expert to way in for this.I will also put the top three most likely clubs in order.(1 being most likely, 3 being least)

Given the rapid progress he was starting to make , before he got injured , during the second half of the season . Whoever signs Dan Bewley on his low average and starts him at reserve , will be favourites for the PL title . Will also be interesting to see if Belle Vue use him as a fast track reserve , assuming this practice is still in place next season

Amazing when you look at all these riders & their averages & Nick Morris had an up & down season but still averaged above them.

Most of the season he was a heat leader as well.

Morris is a massively underrated rider. He was easily our best rider in 2015 and did more than enough in 2016 to justify a team place next season.

Most riders average are false because of the race format being used hopefully this will be change for next season

They were talking about six man teams next season so if that happens it would be a new race format any way. If not then the race format certainly needs changing back to the old format and have one reserve riding at number seven who is protected and stays there all season. This should be a NL draft with a average no more than four.

If there is to be a cull on the top riders you will have riders like Lambert, Cook, Masters and King as number one riders and with Poland and Denmark looking to restrict riders to limited leagues, Britain would be low down on the list for many riders if they have contracts already in other countries.

While not having riders like Doyle, Iversen, Lindgren, Holder and Jonsson etc riding in Britain would be a blow, it would promote more spaces for British riders lower down and make the current top British riders much more vital and prolific to teams but must question if they would be allowed to double down if they are number one riders in the Elite League.
