Glasgow 2017

Recommended Posts

With Nike Lunna & Dan Bewley completing the team I am really looking forward to watching these young guys next season.

Nike is absolute class round Ashfield and I think there is every chance if he stays fit that he will have the biggest improvement in his average.

Lots off ifs and buts but this could turn out to be a really formidable team.

You simply can't overstate young Bewley. I first saw him at Cradley in the Colts opening NL meeting and it was clear he was something special. A few days later, he banged in an 18 point maximum in the inaugural match at NSS.

That wasn't the best, though.

Riding for Edinburgh at Newcastle (where he was subsequently injured) he went round Steve Worrall on bends 3 & 4 like Worrall simply wasn't there. At the time, Worrall was one of the top riders in the PL and averaging well over the 10pt mark at home. It was truly astonishing and one of the best single rides I saw anywhere last season.

If he has no after effects from that injury and steers reasonably clear from any more, I can see him being a heat leader at Ashfield next season. He really is that good.

John Campbell first lost his hairline, now it's the services of Dan Bewley lol!

Dan will be good, solid 7 or 8 points everywhere he goes! It really benefits him that he's tiny height wise making the bike easy to ride, and most of all he isn't afraid to pass and isn't hit headed either!

Role on March!

We'll it's happened. Hopefully your right in your prediction.

I think the only team that has equal strength will be sheffield with ipswich close behind in 3rd.

Can't wait to see how Bewley gets on looks a great prospect. And a brilliant team built by glasgow again. Top marks to the promotion.

Really good side.

Bottom end has bags of potential to back up a super strong top 3.

Will start with ge favourites tag IMO.

If Bewley kicks on then could be a good season for Glasgow.

They need the lower end riders to kick on though......

I'm confident that will be the case . We know what the three heat leaders are capable of , so that's the solid and dependable base from which to work from . Nike is a club asset and the entertainment value he brings made him a certainty to be back . He's one of those riders who can light up the most boring meeting by missing the gate and thrilling us with his efforts to get past the opposition .

When Peterborough came to Ashfield in the league in 2016 they were very ineffective , Ostergaard got going all too late in the meeting , but the only back up he got that day was from Tom Perry . And that wasn't the first time his performances has impressed the Ashfield viewing public .

He had made the progression from three point number seven in last season's Peterborough side , into their top five before injury interrupted his season and ultimately cost him his place . He'll start at reserve and will resume his progression .

Jack Smith is a raw novice , but has a fine speedway background and there is no better place for him to cut his Championship teeth than Glasgow .

Then we come to the seventh rider to sign , Dan Bewley . We all saw his incredible progress last season , he went from a wobbling novice round Ashfield to beating Richard Lawson in a time a fraction outside the then track record in the space of a few short months .

The world is his oyster in speedway terms and his presence in our side epitomises the exciting potential the whole team exudes . March can't come quick enough now . There looks to be a few decent looking sides that will come to the tapes in the Championship , and while I respect them all , I wouldn't swap my side for any one of them .

Bewley is a decent rider but he only had an handful of good scores in the PL last year and the crash was always on the cards as he rides on the edge and a bit out of his depth but that is only a lack of experience. Glasgow have replaced Bach with Bewley cant see that been any better than last year and they only won a cup which to be fair was a little lucky as they beat Somerset who at the OTA had 4 riders on the night i believe.

Nike Lunna rode at either 6 or 2 last year and stepping up to riding at 4 is a big leap which may be a little bit too much for him, he will be riding in the same position as the likes of hansen,Berge,Newma who are far better riders so Glasgow will need to have the bottom 4 on form at every meeting incase the big 3 have a bad meeting which always happens
