.................and they call us a win at all costs team haha ; robbed the fans of a close meeting; tbh they had one hand on the cup anyway!!

A shame because a good spirit was developing on here between the sets of fans which is now going to fall into acrimony again over this i fear!

Yes Shanes name is in the prog and he's at the track ready to race...oh the joys of speedway!

Quite amusing how you're trying to deflect blame because of Brum management not knowing the rules.

........and so it starts!

Just feel sorry for the fans who have travelled down for this debacle and whatever the right and wrongs are the fans have been robbed but hey ho enjoy your hollow win!

Unusual for a promoter of Drury's experience to make such a ricket. That said protesting just before the start is poor. Speedway shoots itself in the foot yet again!

Speedway shooting itself in the foot again.

Referee should be reprimanded for this massive error.

Birmingham will have given their (illegal) lineup to Eastbourne and the SCB referee 5 days ago. It's the referee's responsibilty to check that it is legal.

Amazed that Drury made such a mistake, but it should have been checked by the referee days ago, to give Drury time to source a legal replacement

At end of the day you can all point your fingers at Graham Drury and blame him for not knowing rules. However teams are announced in advance, not an hour in advance like football. So why didnt Eastbourne protest as soon as they saw our team or better still why didnt the SCB say anything. Instead lets wait until the rider gets there and the fans get into the stadium. Shambles

Correct. This shambles is down to the SCB.

The rules are;-

At least 5 days before the meeting the home team (Eastbourne) must give their line-up to the away team (Birmingham).

Within 24 hours of the above, Birmingham must respond with their line-up to Eastbourne.

At least 3 days before the meeting Eastbourne advise the full line-ups to the SCB and referee via a hidden section of the SCB website.

I'm told that this all happened exactly as it should.

From there it is up to the referee to use the 3 days to check that that the line-ups are legal......( Clearly the referee failed here and should be reprimanded).

If either team have any protests about the opposition line up, they have to be made at least 24 hours before the start. Not sure if/when Eastbourne protested, but for a protest to be upheld it must have been before 6.30pm Saturday which surely gave Drury enough time to find a replacement?

If no protest was made before 6.30pm on Saturday, then surely Shanes should ride even if it is illegal because it has been accepted by the SCB and opposition.

Under no circumstances should it get to the stage of today's farce where the paying public are cheated

Because Eastbourne were desparate to win this meeting and from their point of view didn't want to allow Drury to get off scott free for making an illegal guest booking. At the end of the day, it's a schoolboy error on Drury's part. We can blame all and sundry over it as much as we like, but there were even people on BSF debating this rule days ago. If the great unwashed of BSF know this rule you have to expect an experienced team manager to know the rule too, and abide by it.

Surely it's not down to the opposition to check if your team is legal, I thought the genius that is GD should do that .

I feel very sorry for any Birmingham fans that made the journey only to find that Shanes could not ride.

Massive blunder by Drury ( I assume he sorted out the team ) which makes the Sport look completely amateurish.

Although Eastbourne deserve their win it does have a slight hollow feel to it as Birmingham's blunder turned the result to Eastbourne without a doubt.

If Birmingham had named a legal guest then the match could have gone either way.
