A ORLOV
More coverage for the Rebels on BBC Points West.... just. On my way. COYR and more to come later on i sense........ CHAMPIONS!! Well done Somerset and well deserved. Saw the coverage at 10.30pm on BBC, they showed a couple of short bits of the racing, what a pity they were not allowed to film and show the whole meeting some time this weekend or later. Any coverage is good and hopefully a few new fans might be attracted to attend next year. Edited October 28, 2016 by A ORLOV
EnglishRoundabout
As other posters have already mentioned, Sheffield played their part in a tense and dramatic match. The tension started as early as the toss of the coin as both captains deferred the decision to choose gate positions for heat 1. A mild Autumn evening provided perfect speedway weather for the packed crowd that included the usual loyal group of Tigers supporters on the third bend. Once again, Sheffield appeared well up for the battle and Wells, Howarth and Robson looked in fine form in the early races. Wright and Starke did their usual thing, chasing the same dirt line and almost colliding in heat 3. Harsh words between them ensued after the race. Both are similar riders with similar racing styles and possibly there needs to be a re think in this pairing if they both return next season. Shanes and Branford once again provided excellent value as guest reserves and both appear to have bright futures in the sport. Skipper Gracijonek and the classy Tungate gave the Rebels general control over the aggregate score with their consistency. As the meeting progressed and the Rebels eked out further heat advantages the atmosphere amongst the home fans increased before it reached fever pitch with a magnificent 5-1 in heat 13 by the two Aussies and PL Pairs champions Tungate and Gracijonek. Que wild celebrations on the terraces, much hugging and back slapping amongst an emotional Hancock family and high fives from the Aussie duo with fans reaching over the air fence on the back straight. The Sheffield riders rode hard and with great determination and in particular, Robson, Wells, Howarth and Bates were quick to offer their congratulations to the celebrating Somerset riders and management at the pit gate. Without doubt Rebels were worthy champions and knowing Mr May, he will be already be plotting just how he can win a clean sweep of trophies nest season! Someone whispered to me on the terraces that the cup that Glasgow had won this year was only on loan.....
Gazc
Congratulations to Somerset best team all season and worthy champions. As is the case every season being successful means you have to break up a team only in speedway.
SomersetBlue
Was an absolutely fantastic night, started off really tense up to the Rebels first 5-1, then we just seemed to take control and the crowd livened up, a big crowd at that. I'm not going to rate who rode well and who didn't as every single rider rode their heart out, including Greaves despite his score. The track was prepared well but kept changing due to the weather, as mentioned by Grajczonek. Was very funny at the start of the meeting with both captains playing pass the parcel with gate positions. The racing was ok but got better as it went on, few jump starts which weren't pulled back but non of them really contributed to the final scoreline. Credit must go to Sheffield and especially Howarth who toasted the fans and had the guts to speak on the centre green. Also to Wells, how he stayed on his bike in one heat no one knows. Also a special mention to Garry May who allowed some of the kids to hold the trophy at the end.
jenga
at the start of the season , i personally didnt give somerset a chance of winning the league , let alone the two other meetings, pairs and league cup . but thanks to jake allen and a revitalsed rohan t . the revels put together an amazing fun and with that their confidence grew and grew . so well done to them and unlucky for sheffield having to run with guests when injuries kicked in . with a full side , sheff may have sneaked this on agg . but revels were hot all season long. sorry for not spending a lot of time on the rebels site , but at this moment in time the borrowers site is far more entertaining. you know what i mean ! one again , well done somerset for an amazing run in speedway .. off to be sick now .lol.

proud panther
Somerset were the best team over the course of the season, so I'm really pleased that they won the play offs. Gary May knows how to build a team, & Jack Holder must be in his thoughts for next year, as he could put 1.5 points on his starting average. Charlieboy
Well done to Somerset deserved champions, hopefully we can go one better next year.If Somerset are to be broken up by the points limit then may be we could persuade Josh Grajczonek to replace Steady ? Well done to the Tigers showing great spirit, lets hope for an injury free season for a change.

Blackadder
He has also said that he wants to ride for a smaller track, otherwise he would be an ideal choice. Maybe his mate Kyle can swing it.
