Edinburgh V Glasgow Pl - 21 Oct 2016

Recommended Posts

On Official Edinburgh website:-

" we got news on Thursday that Max Clegg will also be missing. Apparently Max hurt his shoulder in winning his final four races at Eastbourne last Saturday and is not fit."

Kevin Whelan replaces him, and Chris Widman guests for Tigers in place of Garcia.

Surely Tigers will exploit the threadbare team the Monarchs are now fielding and should win comfortably.

Apart from that he'll be at the Wolverhampton Presentation dance. ;):drink:

I extremely doubt he'll be back next year IMO.

Why just because he would rather go on a p*ss up with his mates at a pre arranged dance rather than a fixture that is irrelevant and rearranged last minute not the boys fault is it.

Let's face it I'm sure this match should just have been scrapped given the riders situation.Cant see the promotion making money out of this fixture .Common sense should have prevailed IMO .One of the Great Speedway Derby's turned into a farce .

I was talking to somebody who is in the know and you must honour outstanding fixtures or a club will face a fine from the SCB

I realise that but a bit common-sense wouldn't go amiss on some occasions .

Based on other things that's went on through out the season. Not just this.

I don't think he was really interested at Edinburgh this season, performed well in other leagues but was poor any time I seen him for Edinburgh.

Humped - no surprise.

Better team won.

Thank god this season is over.

Wouldn't read too much into the result with the patchwork team you put out but I agree with you it has been a long season I'm ready for a break.

Thankfully that's that season over with. Surely we can't have another like that again with rain and so on.

Standard end of season meeting with not much really happening.

Must say though the tigers riders and fans celebrating like they had just won some trophy did brighten up my night a little. Shame they can't do it when it matters though. Best of luck tomorrow and Monday.

So they travel through and are not allowed to celebrate a win you really are a numpty at times so you didn't celebrate winning the Scottish cup in May by that logic.

We have celebrated plenty at Ashfield. Result was never in doubt. Shame the best derby in speedway was reduced to an end of season farce. Any news on Garcia Gazc?

Coty has dislocated knee cap & ligament damage.

I was working tonight and couldn't get through but it wasn't by the sounds off it a typical eventful derby.

It was a pity your team were decimated for various reasons but the main thing for all concerned is that you are back racing next season that is what really matters as tonight was a nothing meeting well apart from a good pay day for our lads :t: .

There apparently is a significant financial penalty imposed on promotions who do not complete their official home fixtures before 1/11.

Given the three previous cancellations of this particular fixture (24/6 & 9/9 for adverse weather, 7/10 for floodlighting failure). there was really no feasible alternative to yesterday's date, for Glasgow to return.

It might have been inconvenient for Max Clegg to forego attending the Wolverhampton Presentation dance, but I would suggest it would be more hassle for Kevin Wölbert, Erik & Mark Riss, to return from Germany with their bikes for this one meeting.

Clegg received substantial financial assistance from a couple of the Edinburgh Directors, and when his fiancée appealed for donations to replace a damaged helmet, the ordinary fans also responded with a sizable amount.

Pity he did not consider this when he decided his priorities lay elsewhere yesterday evening.

One final observation, some posters on here, bang on about employing Brits before Foreigners.

Edinburgh have stayed loyal with Clegg for two Seasons, despite minimal improvement in his average (currently 4.04) and compare his "thank you" to the commitment of our Teutonic Trio last night.

Don't tell me you are claiming Max is not injured but yet Edinburgh got a guest to cover for him. Is this Monarchs bending the rules again. Ha Ha
