Glasgow V Sheffield Pl Play Off S/f 1st Leg , 16/10/16 At 3pm

Recommended Posts

Day of our most important meeting to date , and no thread , we're getting lazy fellow Tiggers .

This becomes the first leg now , so we need to be on it right from the start , and no prolonged tractor breaks when we build up a head of steam please .

I'm not for a minute fooled by Sheffield's poor performance here recently , they will be more of a threat today , I have no doubts about that .

Ricky Wells is always decent round Ashfield , and I've heard Theo Pijper's name mentioned as another guest , and we all know what Theo is capable of on his day .

Kyle Howarth was Sheffield's best rider during the recent league meeting , and if Josh Bates realises he's at the speedway and not the Royal Rumble , then we saw last Sunday his points scoring potential . At reserve Greaves might be a bit weak , but Sissis can pop out the gate occasionally and when he does that he looks capable .

Every Sheffield rider can take one of the Premier League rider's Champion's rides , so shouldn't be inconvenienced too much by his absence .

We need more than we got last Sunday , yes the track wasn't great , but our reserves need to get among the points more than they did last week .

It's a chilly Autumn morning , but there's blue skies and it's currently dry . So no doubt i'll see Tigerite and company on the back straight this afternoon , always a pleasure .

Indeed, the track was awful rather than not great and the primary reason our reserves never got amongst it. Its all gone a bit flat since then. You'd have to go back to 2014 to find a meeting, never mind a play off where a thread was only started on the morning of the meeting.

Hopefully common sense brings us a decent track, gives the racers confidence to pass and the fans are treated to an enthralling first leg. It feels like we are owed it after last week and i dont mean from our riders.

I agree entirely . Yes the club wants to be successful and win things , but there is a duty to give the paying public value for money and races over by bend 2 and far too many stoppages because of track grading isn't doing that . I watched people leaving the stadium in recent weeks , sick fed up watching tractors going round and round . And you really don't want to see fans being so fed up that they'd rather go home .

When Ashfield is prepared properly we've seen some spectacular racing this season , lets have that today and trust the riders to produce the result on a fair and exciting track , and not become too obsessed about trying to unsettle the opposition with a track they might not fancy .

Crikey the natives are revolting.

It gets pretty tiresome week in week out with various aspects to the day making it a chore rather than enjoyment.

As Paul says tractor racing is now leading to people leaving and I haven't even got to the track yet.

No , we're speedway fans at the end of the day . Yes we love our club and we give them our hundred per cent backing , but we want to be entertained while watching our team try to win meetings . Aye you do get fans who want a stream of 5-1's and are not too fussed how that is achieved , but they are in a minority .

On our way mate, hope the weathers better up there than the fog and rain we've had so far upto Carlisle. No idea how we are going to go today, bit of a bonus meeting for us as we never expected to get past Newcastle, but will hopefully keep it close to make a good second leg.

I reckon today becoming the first leg could favour the Scottish version of the Tigers - allows them to concentrate building up a lead without any nerves.

A decent performance from Summers is key. When the going gets tough, he seems to go missing.

All the best

Rob

When you look at this years results there has not been many when Tigers (Glasgow ) heat leaders have be on song together, are reserve or second string has put in a good score though .I agree regarding Summers.

Hopefully we get a big crowd to get behind the team, can understand the complaints re: grading etc. but I think the pressure has started to show a bit throughout the whole club lately. These are the good times, though, and I like to see some cash flowing back to the owners after the investments made.

I think we can win this by a comfortable margin, taking account of the guests and RR situation. Hopefully that's what we get! Injuries should be a bit better, Summers should be feeling fitter, and Cote should have his gear more to his liking.

Agree with this, just need the weather to play ball, and get the 15 heats.
