stevethelion
So using PL averages or converted averages on 2016 team. Klindt 8.90 Hougaard 8.71 Wozniak 8.27 Summers 8.18 Lindgren 7.65 Auty 7.10 Starke 6.62 Total 55.43 This shows just how weak the 2017 top league will be, when one of the weakest teams ever in the top league has to lose over 5 points Klindt has a 5.42 Premier League average from his spell at Scunthorpe

Hamish McRaker
What's been done at the AGM, is creation of a two-league/two-division setup that could be rolled into one single league/division relatively easily if teams drop out or don't actually get to the tapes. Klindt has a 5.42 Premier League average from his spell at Scunthorpe He's not going to be short of offers in that case
proud panther
There wouldn't be enough riders to amalgamate the Leagues, as most riders will be riding in both Leagues.

I guess that the single league would be a last resort if too many teams were to drop out. And the new team points limits plus the narrowing of the gap between the two leagues will mean that moving between the two leagues will be an easier proposition, and maybe give more incentive to a NL team to make the jump.Overall these changes seem favourable for Leicester, just a question now of waiting to see who's going to be in charge there, and then see how it works out in practice! cityrebel
Maybe the 'BSPA' lions are just on stand by in case belle vue drop out, and the sky contract becomes null and void.
speedibee
Glad to see that there will be speedway at Leicester next year , Lets hope Hemsley has been pushed out of the picture altogether , personally I think they would have been better in the championship .but the BSPA need to keep the numbers up for the SKY money , championship would have provided regular racing at affordable levels with a good chance of some success and could have brought the crowd back , as it is cannon fodder in the premiership means pandering to overpaid foreigners racing every 2 weeks midweek and struggling to keep their heads above water , hopefully they will still be around when the latest blueprint for failure collapses ,and can join the other bread and butter clubs one step down in 2018 ,
1 valve
No word from the AGM confirming that Saturday nights is a no go for top tier speedway aka EL now The Premiership. Not sure what to make of this, but cant help but think if any team believes it can compete with any resemblance of a strong team in 2017 then Saturdays are out of the question. Also other Elite/Premiership clubs said last year was the last as they struggle to field their strongest line ups on Saturday. If Saturdays race nights are going to be allowed and the Lions do just that then we are going to see lots of guest riders, a weak team and another dismal season... They are still working on getting an 8th day of the week that nobody else knows about , so they can run british speedway without interfering with any other country , or the Gps or the world cup or the european championship
Barrow Boy 2
Dave Darcy said on Radio Leicester recently and before the AGM that Leicester would be in the Elite League and would be racing midweek.
SteveLyric2
I listened to that radio interview and don't recall any mention of 'midweek'! In any case Dave Darcy may not be part of the new promotion so how could he possibly say what day they would race on other than to confirm it would be in the EL/Premiership!! weatherwatcher
I can see a big drop off top riders next season and can see both the top flight clubs and the league below running with much the same sort of riders, they have planned this A.G.M to cut costs again and the only way that they can really do this, is to use riders that where running in the PL this season. Don't think we will be seeing many big, big names over here next year may be wrong. Something has to be done though as clubs just can;t keep going on as they have been doing, in that they have not been paying riders wages, how many folk out there would turn up for work if they where not getting paid, not many, but speedway riders must be a breed apart, if they turn up for weeks on end with no money coming thier way. Any promoter who fails to pay his riders, should be removed from the club and the B.P.S.A put someone in thier place to get the mess that the club has gotten in to put right a quick as they can. we will never know what happened at BP as I am sure no statement will be made on how the club got into the big mess it did this year after DH tol;d everyone at the end of the previous season that the club was financially sound. So what happened after the following season. In fact they where struggling half way through the year and still nothing was done about it. So what happened after the following season. In fact they where struggling half way through the year and still nothing was done about it. Doubtful the truth will ever emerge. Was it around the same time that Hemsley got suspended, that riders (and others) stopped being paid? All sounds like a "perfect storm" but some would suspect the two events are not merely co-incidence. And if the BSPA used the promoters bond money to meet other expenses first, leaving less for the riders. From what is emerging elsewhere, the BSPA have had a bigger panic on their hands with the goings-on at Belle Vue, which is clearly their priority and Leicester will be left to sink or swim. No doubt all will become clear soon, otherwise Leicester will not be able to seriously negotiate with riders....and it will become a case of having to pick up the leftovers once more. Joe Beevers
I think if Leicester track a similar team with average heatleaders and strong reserves in this new format for 2017, I can see them holding their own well as most top teams will probably look at weak reserves to accommodate their GP stars.
