Mr Bump
It possibly just needs moving to the Premier League section Nope. Apparently there will be speedway at Leicester next season, and it will be in the 'Elite' league. Blimey

SteveLyric2
Good to hear from Dave Darcy. New sponsors, riders to be paid by end of the month. Something to be done for season ticket holders next year. More after the AGM. Well it all sounds good...........!!
beckettlion
At least Dave Darcy is saying the right things (so he knows what theyre supposed to be doing!). If he can find a way of getting these things done, then there's a chance of a brighter (well, less bleak) future for Leicester Speedway!
B.V 72
Things looking a lot brighter the very best of luck the league needs every club to be back at the tapes in 2017.

The mantra from Mr.Darcy is certainly to wait till after the Annual General Muppetry, sorry Meeting, has solved all the problems of British speedway. Magic. Shale Searcher
From what I have heard, the Lions will be running in the BEL in 2017, albeit a radically altered league... I sincerely hope they do, however, running on a week day night, will severely impact on the amount of time I spend at the track on race days, and pre-race days... As long as we survive and put the last 12 months or so behind the club, then I'm ok with that....
The Voice Of Reason
] It's what makes me chuckle at times when people, with very little forethought, suggest alternate race nights. The fact is that within British Speedway, NO CLUB could actually run speedway meetings without the loyalty and hard work of voluntary track staff; irrespective of whether they are machine examiners, flag guys, etc. This is possibly even more poignant in the case of tracks such as Lakeside; whereby the track has to be built up from scratch, and then deconstructed at the end of every meeting. Who is to say that those volunteers who can work voluntarily on, for example Fridays and Saturdays, would have similar 'free time' midweek - particularly with work/family commitments? Just a thought. speedibee
Dave Darcy was interviewed on Radio Leicester this morning (I didn't know Radio Leicester knew we had a speedway team). He stated categorically that the Lions would be riding in the Elite League next season, with new sponsors, although he couldn't say any more until after the AGM. Good point. The other thing is there are only a limited number of licensed SCB officials such as start Marshalls, incident recorders etc, and some work at more than one track to cover holidays, and other staff shotrages. if all meetings are on the same night it presents a bigger problem in getting cover . As it is there are some clubs that just about scrape by with the minimum number of trackstaff/officials.
weatherwatcher
Then the problem lies in the BPSA/SCB's door. They have to get more track staff ref's etc to cover all the clubs if it comes down to two race nights a week. They may even sit there looking at each other, that they may have to actually start to pay people to do this work and hoping the problem, will resolve itself and they don't have to dig into the coffers. How many weeks is it until the AGM, the sooner the better, to put all the Lions fans, believing that they have a good chance of the Lions coming to the tapes next year, with a new owner and prometer, who really knows how to run things and really care about the club and the fans. Lets face it that with folks coming through the gates then they all have a hard time making ends meet. I know the number of fans dropped off alarmingly this season, but there was still enough there to pay for the riders, what ever happened I do not know and doubt that we will ever get any answers to thet one. Big Al
I thought the interview DD gave to RL began with him sounding less than convincing about 2017, but at the end he was being far more definite and of course he cannot be more specific at the moment. He also said I think, the riders will be paid by the end of October, but it's a shame the interviewer missed the chance to ask if that means "paid in full" or just paid something. Again, he couldn't be more specific about the "off-track problems", but did refer to D.Hemsley's Architect businesss in that context. I think it's called Sporting Lion Ltd. Maybe he was so busy with it, that his time and attention for speedway suffered. And/ or maybe that business was having difficulties. If it was the latter, then Sporting Lion Ltd may have been calling-in money owed to it by Leicester Speedway from back in 2010/2011 for the cost of their/D.Hemsley's services, leaving the coffers of Leicester Speedway a bit short this year. But not having access to any accounts, i couldn't possibly comment on that. Credit to DD for at least being honest, if a bit belatedly. KIRKYLANE
Pleased to see Leicester set for 2017 but a little surprised that they are still in the EL. There is an implication that there are some changes within the structure of British Speedway... let us hope that they are fully thought out

There is an implication that there are some changes within the structure of British Speedway... let us hope that they are fully thought out Apparently .the elite league fixture list is going to be drawn up by Jason Doyle , Chris Holder and Tai Woffinden , all 3 have Promised their commitment to British Speedway on condition it does not interfere with their hectic schedules in Poland ,Sweden , Denmark ,Outer Mongolia and Uranus , a draft proposal fixture list was drawn up on the back of a box of performance enhancing Drugs at the Melbourne GP . the draft proposal has been carefully worked out to ensure regular racing and a single raceday , The Bspa are excited to announce the new fixture List .which will feature 3 teams Team Doyle ,team Holder and team Woffinden ,all will be spearheaded by their namesakes and the other five places will be taken by their relatives and friends , the initial fixtures look set to be , Once a month on a Tuesday afternoon march to august with September and October left free ,in case of rainoff or unforeseen requirements of an other league , should it be deemed necessary all 6 meetings could be run in October when none of the main contenders have earnings in other countries

Anyway, going to be interesting to find out if a new company is formed or comes along to take things over, or whether LS Ltd survives and continues to run it. proud panther
Leicester is a cracking venue, & if the track alterations are completed, it could be a viable business for the right people. I would definitely attend more often, because the viewing & atmosphere is brilliant in my opinion.
