Glennylion
Can remember comments from DH that it wasn't well attended and commented that the public weren't backing the introduction of a team in the NL trophy. Personally, I can't make Saturday's. Clashes with saturday activities such as cricket.

SteveLyric2
Don't many people also work on Saturdays (and Sundays)?! The last thing they may want to do on a Saturday evening is to take the family out to Speedway - or anything else for that matter!! If they do, there are many more family-friendly activities than a speedway meeting!! Edited December 29, 2016 by Skidder1
Gemini
I think Leicester had the most children attending matches than I've seen anywhere else so Saturday's must be a good night for parents to take them, but I'm prepared to be bombarded with statistics from other members whose team races midweek. I know some parents would consider their children staying up late with school the next day but I'd say there are a lot more who wouldn't when you also take into account how long some matches drag on. Not only that but 235 spaces in the car park usually means parking near the shopping centre so half a mile walk back there, plus the journey home means a very late night. (Okay I might be exaggerating that it's half a mile but it feels like it to me.)
speedibee
Midweek speedway never worked at Coventry Can't see Dave Hemsley splurging more money on track changes when he's no longer the promoter ? Won't be Hemsley's responsibility ,buster is the speedway leaseholder and responsible for the track and stadium , he's not a fool like Hemsley and will know that a decent racetrack is the keystone to a decent crowd and therefore a successful business ,
Gemini
If that's the case why have fans been complaining about the Kings Lynn track which seems to be full of stones.....and the odd spanner.....and saying it's not as good as it used to be?

Gemini
There may be plans to introduce Stock Car Racing so don't raise your hopes up of no spanners yet. That sport used to be held regularly at Blackbird Road as you know but I'm not sure if it would be allowed at Beaumont Park. It's one way to increase use of the stadium though being as nothing else seems to be happening.
speedibee
We only entered a team in the NL Trophy, which was a 4 team competition with the top 2 going through to the Final. It was quite well attended for NL fixtures, if I remember right. Leicester NL failed because of the arrogant Hemsley clone who ran it , He didn't have a clue about speedway at that level , and was so arrogant that he wouldn't take advice of people who did , there were at least 150 people who didn't go because he didn't give a couple of local lads a go, knew better of course and brought in lads from Scotland ,outer Mongolia , mars ,rather than faces that were known and liked by the Lions support

I think even an improved version of the track would still be too tight for stock cars , and there is not enough space around the outside to park all the lorries and buses that stock cars get transported in , 14 vans for speedway is a tight squeeze , so where would you put 60 lorries

Gemini
Well, it was going okay until all the lights went out. The only other thing I can remember about the match is it was one of the best of the season and my two friends from Kings Lynn who I was standing with enjoyed it very much. Happy Hunter
According to this week's Speedway Star there is going to be a "big meeting" before the New Year to sort out the arrangements for next season including what night the Lions will race on. It is reported as well that the team is already signed up for next season although I don't know how they can do that if they have not fixed the race night yet. Happy hunter we can only presume then that a race night has already been agreed for the team to be in place and we the public shall be informed soon....... Okay....I'm being pessimistic again but I really can't see Brandon being used again. Hope I'm wrong.
semion
If Buster is the new kid on the block might be worth considering what other commitments he has at Saddlebow. I think Saturday's sees some big Stock Car, etc meetings.
Pirate Baz
These situations are down to the individual, and it depends how many fall into each catagory. I personally have played sport all my life, so Saturday has always been the main playing sport day as it when league matches in most amateur sports take place. Now I'm an old man it's bowls and while it's only taking two off the attendance I don't do Saturday meetings. Out trips to Leicester only happen for Bank Holiday meetings, It may be that I am in a minority here, but I always recall in my football days in the 60's and 70's that AFC Bournemouth's attendances were considerably higher for midweek games as all the Saturday footballers could attend. I rarely saw a Saturday match for about 20 years. However times have changed so this argument may not hold water these days.
justathought
My guess, and that is all it is, will be a Thursday. Personally I wouldn't worry to much about the race night. What is more concerning is the number of teams in the league. If Coventry and Bell Vue don;t enter that leaves just 7 teams, So six teams to race against. 12 home meetings is hardly mouth watering,

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Storm filling the of the gaps at BP Well, it was going okay until all the lights went out. I bet Buster will be pleased to know how great the racing is at Leicester after seeing a few decent races when KL were there , I suppose he will be thinking great racing at BP is the rule rather than the exception and will be happy to race on with the track as it is .. the problems of the last 5 years all dissolved in 1 night over a few heats ,
