Leicester Lions 2017

Looking at a visit to Leicester on Sat 26th as part of the Cycle Speedway British Finals weekend. Looking on the website it says adult admissions are £17 plus a 50p online fee! Is it also £17 on the gate? If so why would anyone book online?

Wish I was there for the cycle speedway championship. I rode a Leicester cycle speedway track in 1965, an individual meeting. Think it was Slater Street, very nicely prepared track. Is that you one you going to????

Another bit of good news for Leicester fans is Pawel has escaped without any breaks from his high speed crash/ fencing by Fast Freddie

It seems that Pawel will be fit to ride for Torun on Sunday subject to treatment this week. Hopefully back in UK in couple of weeks the month flying restriction is due to finish next Tuesday i think.

Hope you don't mind if I reply as he's obviously not seen your post yet. Yes, it will be at Slater Street which is still going strong, although I don't think they have a team in the top division any more. Those were the days with David Hemsley, Mick Skinner, Craig Marchant, Norman Venson, Ralph Doughty and all the Whiteheads. :)

Credit where it's due!

Unbelievable news from the Lions... they've put the start back this Saturday until 8pm to counter any possible sun delay! That's the first bit of good news to come from the club in recent weeks... now to sort out the rest of the problems with the sport

Good grief! At last promoters with a bit of sense. That's one thing I won't be able to moan about now. :P Also a good idea now the Football season has started as it gives more time for those who wish to attend both matches.

Just watching the polish speedway and lindgren pulls the same move as he pulled on cook in last years cup final.

Cook was lucky and swerved a big crash, Przedpelski not so much as he becomes yet another victim of the swede.

Agree he has got a bit dirtier lately, maybe one of the riders Doyle calls dangerous in his interview that followed the meeting on tv last night.

I think it goes much further back than that. I've not been to Wolverhampton for years since they banned dogs but before that always went twice when Coventry were riding there and Lindgren has pulled some pretty bad moves against our riders.

been the same one for many a year. Rode there on Sunday!

I'm looking forward to the 26th too. Got quite a few of our kids riding in it.

Depends what you class top division Gem. They have a midland top flight team and all the names you mentioned are all still 1st teamers!

Although we beat them at Slater Street on Sunday, not bragging like.

I remember years back calling Freddie dirty and being told by a Wolves fan he was just "young and keen", he's never changed. 90% of the time he'd just hard but he misjudges it too often.

I always thought of him as being hard but fair and like his aggression but as you say misjudges too often, not as bad as dirty Nicki who never misjudges it.

Can't think of an incident he has 'misjudged' this season.

Oh right. Must admit we lost a bit of interest when they pulled out of the top league a few years ago and haven't been for a while due to Peterborough Sunday matches or family always seeming to want to visit on a Sunday afternoon and go for a walk. Will have to make an effort to go, although we have to hide the dogs behind a banner because strangely enough although they go to sleep at Speedway meetings they find Cycle Speedway very exciting. Must be all the little legs wizzing round.

Aaah you must have meant the Elite League that they pulled out of about 5 seasons ago. That competition no longer runs first time this year in favour of region against region top flight racing. Not the same at all.

Be great to see you there some time!

So how is one supposed to find out the fixture list? All the Leicester websites I've looked at are years out of date .

I agree they don't exactly help themselves. League fixtures are nearly completed before the play offs (yes even our sport has introduced them!).

It was their last home league match on Sunday but still host the kids championships on Saturday 26th. And host the women's league match on Sept 24th.

British cycling usually has all the dates for all matches tho. :t:

We were talking about the cycle speedway team not the Lions! :t:

Thanks for trying to help but it's Cycle Speedway fixtures not the Lions. I'm on their Facebook group which is pretty good with updates as well.

Looks like I've had it for this season then because like you with Speedway I prefer 'top' league matches. I'm not keen on individuals either.

It does seem daft to pay a fee for entry, it is not as if it will be a sell out and paying the fee will confirm entry
