RobMcCaffery
Just to clear things up PP has NOT been released from Torun BUT he has been released from the terms of his contract where it states he has to be availble to practise in Poland on a Saturday. So he will ride at Leicester on Saturdays & fly out Sunday like alot of riders currently do when riding at Leicester. So, effectively he gets his practice sessions in England. stevebrum
Don't we have to have a Brit at reserve? In which case it will be Riss & Newman. You have to have 2 riders that have ridden in the NL at any point.

Big Al
Presuming the same league setup is going to exist in 2018 (and maybe even if it doesn't), which of the current 7 should the management be trying hardest to keep at Leicester next season? Getting some definite names sorted out early doors is surely top priority this time, isn't it?

Bates, Bjerre and Riss could either be great value for average or poor value, depending on how they finish the season. They've all dropped into reserve at some point- where they're obviously good value, but if they increased their averages to become heat leaders, they won't be good value

I could be wrong but isn't a promotion/ relegation type thing supposed to be occurring at the end of the season? If we were to be relegated, I don't think we'd be able to keep any of the current team!
Robbobee
If we end up as part of a bigger Championship League - we wont keep may riders at all ... King - Ipswich Bates / Bjerre - both Sheffield Riss - Edinburgh Przedpelski - will he bother ? Nilsson - maybe he will bother .. Newman - Poole Better chance of retaining some of those riders if Premiership team

Beowulf
Why? Because some of the riders already ride for other championship teams, and some of the other riders eg Nilsson might not want to ride in the championship at all.
KevH
Because some of the riders already ride for other championship teams, and some of the other riders eg Nilsson might not want to ride in the championship at all. That doesn't mean Leicester couldn't retain the same team.......you are assuming the riders would remain at their current Championship teams, whereas they could choose to represent the Lions, and Nilsson might want to ride in the Championship! The fact is, Leicester COULD retain the same team if they were relegated.
Teromaafan
This discussion regarding who will remain with the Lions for next year (based on the likelihood that they will be relegated) makes me smile. The current seven, just the right side of the revolving door, will not be the same next month yet alone next year, due to injuries and the (rider form related) fickle/panic nature of the club managements within the sport. How many speedway fans have any affinity with riders in their team, the vast majority of which come and go in a relatively short space of time compared with other sports and who also ride for another team in Britain? I know several people who do not necessarily follow the sport, but have an understanding of it and are staggered by the fact this can happen in a so called professional sport. Regardless of whether the relegation/promotion will actually happen between the current top two tiers next year, we will still see the same riders in both leagues, its just a case of which team colours they will be wearing during the close season rider scramble.

You have just underlined the root cause of the demise of speedway in Great Britain......and exposed the BSPA who have allowed/encouraged it to happen. Teromaafan
Anyone manage to get to the Q&A with Dave Darcy in the track bar? Any interesting comments to share?
The Observer
I literally have a rye (pun) smile whilst writing this, just when the Lions have a solid looking seven, injury allowing of course, and are hopeful of climbing the table, Somerset pick up an away win at Poole and widen the gap further. Couple that with Rye House's signing of 2014's World No 2 at reserve (absolutely ridiculous), who is the first visiting team? Leicester. I'm a great believer in "you make your own luck", but the Lions are going to struggle to get themselves off the bottom I fear. Still, never give up hope lads! Hamish McRaker
It's been a wee bit quiet news-wise about Kim Nilssons injury and what plans Leicester have during his absence. Maybe a replacement has already been signed but couldn't be announced just yet??
Happy Hunter
I thought I had read somewhere that it would be a guest for Kim whilst he is injured and R/R for the injured Pole. Edited July 31, 2017 by Happy Hunter
Teromaafan
There are now a couple of Aussies looking for work after being moved on from their jobs just down the A47....... (Surely not?).
