King's Lynn Press Release.

KING’S Lynn are gearing up for a huge afternoon of action as they host the showpiece National League Pairs Championship at the Adrian Flux Arena on Sunday (3.30).
The top riders in the third tier will battle for major silverware in the popular event, which was originally postponed due to rain on August 27.
Elite League title winner Max Clegg, former Stars man Ashley Morris plus talented Poole reserve Adam Ellis will be amongst those in action.
The Young Stars will be represented by skipper Scott Campos and Ryan Kinsley as they fight to progress from a strong Group A.
King’s Lynn co-promoter Dale Allitt is expecting an exciting day of racing which will prove well worth the wait.
Said Allitt: “It was unfortunate the first running was rained off, but it’s still a very good line-up with lots of top riders on show.
“These meetings always tend to give you plenty of good racing. It was very competitive last year, and again when you look at the line-up there is no reason this year will be any different.
“We’re pleased to be hosting this event again, and I’m sure all 10 teams will be giving it their all to try and get some silverware with the end of the season approaching.”
Admission has been priced at £15 for adults and £4 for juniors.

Is this meant to be a joke?

You could say that about more than Stoke tbh. Only 3 of the 10 teams have their top 2 riders lining up!

But putting the team's reserve in is extracting the urine, surely?

Are Ben Wilson or Tony Atkin not keen to represent their club at a fairly important competition?

If this is the best that they can do, perhaps it would have been better to give it a miss,

:(

Mildenhall, Eastbourne, Cradley & Rye House look fine. King's Lynn have Greaves at Glasgow and Bailey injured and Kent have Ayres at Glasgow and Shanes committed to grasstrack so they are OK too. Belle Vue have Payne missing, Birmingham Ritchings and Bacon but their pairings are still decent.

Isle of Wight have no Stoneman and no Cockle. Poor show for a club whose customer care and professionalism have been second to none this season.

Stoke have Wilson, Atkin, Tedham & Hopwood missing. Hopwood has been suspended, but one of the others could surely have been there.

Overall, its not too bad compared with some.

Of the 4 you open with I was referring to 3 of those and being a bit harsh on Mildenhall tbf seeing as Hughes is injured. Regarding the other 6 teams I think they should all put out their strongest line-ups to respect the spectacle that a national event should be and to give their fans the best opportunity of glory. Now the teams have been confirmed I can see why they've been so reluctant to release them. Stoke, Isle of Wight, Birmingham and Belle Vue have all put out questionable duos with higher average riders missing without a reason. Then Kent and King's Lynn are being forced to track weaker line-ups because of doubling-up and this meeting being held at the end of the season when it can't be scheduled to fail to clash with PL meetings (but tbh I have a feeling someone was missing the original meeting anyway). Whilst Shanes didn't have this meeting in his original schedule to plan around but tbf he should arguably put his club first. Generally it just doesn't entice supporters of those 6 teams and neutrals to travel imo.

Can't argue with either of those :approve:

Ritchings is missing because of mechanical issues , Hume is injured, no reason for Bacon. Shanes was contracted to a grass meeting (Birmingham & Kent websites).

No reasons as yet from Belle Vue, Isle of Wight or Stoke.

the thing is, we are constantly seeing the ELRC etc decimated because riders can't be bothered or whatever, and we're told that if it was National League riders would jump at chances of being in the big meetings, same as if the track is a bit iffy and the EL riders won't ride, we're told that the NL riders will just get on with it. With the forecast I've seen for tomorrow it will be interesting that's for sure.

It's so frustrating having mown the back lawn since lunch, and my wife dead heading the roses dahlias on such a lovely afternoon, that we could have been watching a speedway meeting 20-minutes down the road. OH DEAR!!
