Who Owns Their Own Stadiums

Recommended Posts

AFAIK Monmore Green is owned by Ladbrooks.

I thought the council owned Poole Stadium.

Don't know on the others.

Poole Stadium is owned by Poole Borough Council, who were bequeathed it by a local land owner many years ago to be used only as a sporting area.

The council have leased it out to Stadia UK, who sub lease to Poole Speedway.

Poole stadium is owned by Poole council,it was donated to them by Lord and Lady Wimborne many years ago on the agreement it must only be used for sporting events within the town. Sadly the council had to sub let the site as they are not allowed to use it as a profit making venture!

Belle Vue effectively own their stadium. The council built it and Belle Vue have to repay the cost over a number of years, like a mortgage. Belle Vue receive money from the food concessions, from car parking and from various events held at the stadium such as conferences, music concerts so far by artists I've never heard of, parties etc.

Swindon and Poole are owned by Stadia UK

Swindon= Getting New stadium we hope

Poole= being re-developed around speedway not greyhound racing. Wimbourne Road will remain as long as Poole are successful. It is the most valuable plot of land in the the whole of the EL.

Poole Stadium being redeveloped with greyhounds and speedway in mind.

As far as I know, Glasgow, Scunthorpe, Buxton, Kent, Eastbourne, Leicester, King's Lynn, Somerset, Rye House all own their own stadiums.

+ Redcar ?

At Hull's Craven Park, I believe the speedway promotion only received income from season ticket sales, match day admission, programme sales, track shop rent and any sponsorship + fence / programme advertising, of which there was almost always a lot. Not sure about car parking income, but bar takings went to the landlords..

Early doors Craven Park had to be the ideal model for a stadium paying for itself as near to 7 days a week as possible staging, as it did, rugby, speedway, greyhounds + functions in the bar(s). Apparently future plans included a round of the short - track / flat - track racing series which was televised. Sadly, these days the Lightstream Stadium, as it is now known, only stages rugbny league with speedway totally out of the picture due to a new stand 'squaring off' what used to be turns 3 & 4. Sigh...

Does anyone happen to know who owns Stoke's stadium at Loomer Road?

It is sandwiched between industrial units and refurbished slag heaps and I have always been a little surprised that someone hasn't plonked a big warehouse on it.

Corbett bookmakers and they have a good relationship with the promotion maybe the only ones to :D
