oldywonkenoldi
I think Ben has replaced Kennet, Ellis dropped so they can fit in a worse rider than him cos his average is now too high for the team

northyorksbear
Unless Ben actively canvassed Rye to drop Ellis, which I can't see happening, then no issue. If Ben had turned the team spot down on principal, Rye would have just got someone else, I'm afraid Ellis was getting the push no matter what! Norfolk Bear
I'm not a fan but would give him a go. However the more important aspect of the changes at Rye is the dropping of Ellis Perks to be 'replaced' by Ben Barker. Can't be a good thing in the Redcar pits surely? I think Sedgeman is replacing Ellis !!
slyfox
I think Sedgeman is replacing Ellis !! To be honest there are lots of things these moves at Rye House are about. For me one of the main issues is that they get Stuart Robson down to reserve.Poor Ellis has been victim of the numbers game. However on his average he will not be without a PL team place for long. SCB
More interestingly someone tweeted about Ben not being great for team spirit and Ellis liked the tweet I see they're now paired at 3 and 4 too

Norfolk Bear
Barker has been superb for team spirit, that's 3 four point away wins so far...
parkendlass
3 4 point away wins...and counting !! You don't get results like that without a good team spirit. Ben has been brilliant for us all season. We have gone from the Lasse grumpfest, and away wins as rare as the proverbial rocking horse stuff, to a team always worth the entrance money, a great back-up team, and making the Bears a team to be proud of by Bears fans, and feared by their opponents. Would that have happened in the Havelock era ? Errr no way !!

Bb would be the first choice to have in my team everytime 100% racer puts bums on seats on good machinery a match for anyone imo unfortunately has had issues with his bikes but seems to be returning to his best form for a while. Did it a few times last year for the Witches protecting his younger a lower team mate . Always did it when he was with the Bees, even with more senior team mates! Certainly NOT a selfish rider on track where his team are concerned. Just another reason I love watching Ben, goes guns blazing for a win but will cover his team mate as and when. SCB
Seems a forgotten art from some of today's riders . You have another one whos good at it at Ispwich these days, Rory Schlein. I remember him once almost literally stopping the bike on the last bend to block Travis McGowan to get Ricky Wells into 2nd. All the more remarkable as it would have been June or July and I don't think Ricky had managed a single 2nd place at that point in the season and was averaging about 1! Coventry needed two 5-1s to draw so had he not done it, we'd have lost (as it was Adams won heat 15) Sorry Redcar fans, bit off topic! Triple.H.
Ben Barker is the Robbie Savage if speedway. There are those who hate him There are those who reluctantly realise when he rides for their team that He's actually one hell of a talent. Then there are the rest of us who know what makes these guys tick and understand the game plan and what they bring to the table Ben when he was at Oxford all those years ago Hated losing Attempted team riding even then when he was 15 He's a bums on seats rider and a blast from the past when we had Goody two shoes and villains racing
