AntiqueSteve
The way I understand it is that the Promoters all get together and vote and then decide how the competitions will be run, so I guess if you don't like it, you need to petition your powers that be to change it ? I also think though with the aggregate situation, some clubs have much more home advantage than others so points overall over a season are not necessarily a guage of just how successful your riders have been on the whole. Its entertainment anyway when its all said and done so the more excitement and interest caused, the better on the terraces...and money in the coffers are whats most needed. Re the double points, I do agree though, I think it should be like the Swedish system where you can nominate a replacement rider and not give double points. ...Its like everything though, when the system suits you, you like it, and when it doesn't, you don't. Willowman
Win or loose Cliffeboy, we have had one hell of a season. We are one point shy of what Edinburgh did last year and they were awesome. We should be getting used to taking it on the chin (if it happens that is) by now but for me it has been great to watch the original 7 prove all the pundits wrong. Will be going tonight with some degree of pessimism without BWD but you never know. Hopefully we can give the Witches something decent to aim for at Foxhall after tonight. Squeaky bottom time!

RebelDan
In light of the situation facing Plymouth, Workington and Berwick fans I am just thankful there is racing to view on a fantastic track at the OTA each week. Â Win lose or draw we have speedway to look forward to next March ( I hope!!!). Like many of us, unfortunately I have experienced tracks closing with Reading in 2008 having followed them since I was a kid (30 plus years ) and it's a gut wrenching feeling so I feel for the fans from the 3 teams above. Since moving to the South West in 2013 I always cherish the sanctuary of my Friday nights at the OTA. Â So I guess you have to try and put it in perspective - Somerset have been terrific all season and yes I'm biased and think we deserve to win the league, but it's not the be all and end all. Â In terms of tonight's match I think Jacobs could be key for Ipswich and Strakey for the Rebels - he's not been on it lately so we need a big performance from him. Â May the best team win and riders stay safe.

AntiqueSteve
I agree, riders safety the most important thing. Â Happen to think that Brandford and Bacon are a good match up with Jacobs and Coles, so could be closer than you think in the round. spanner47
I'm sure all the Promoters would vote to keep them. Love them or hate them, they're here to stay. Look at the crowd at Belle Vue on Monday compared to the rest of the season. Most clubs are struggling financially, only hope of a decent crowd is a local derby ( preferably in good weather), a cup final or a play off. Ipswich don't have a local derby anymore, so once we were out of the cup, the play offs were our only hope of keeping the Bank Manager happy. Hopefully we can keep the score to a reasonable level tonight, then we can look forward to two big meetings on the next two Thursdays.
