Woz01
Bit of a shock. Looks all OK for some form of speedway next year though.
Guest
Lakeside Hammers Press Release:: ::::::::::: LAKESIDE Hammers will not compete in the 2017 top flight as negotiations for an extension to the club's rental arrangement with the Arena Essex Raceway are still ongoing. Consequently, the club cannot confirm its place in the League at the BSPA AGM as required by the sports rules and regulations. Co-promoter, Jon Cook, said: "This doesn't mean the end of racing by any means as our talks are cordial and in line with every year's timescale. “However, this year's early AGM and the need for us to look at more weekend dates to avoid the calamitous weekday tunnel toll and A13 road chaos that adversely affected a third of this year's fixtures means we need the right agreement for all parties. "We understand this news will come as a huge shock to fans but our long term need for our own home, and our will to achieve that goal remain as strong as ever. “Once we have details in place we will hold a public meeting to update fans as to our intentions for 2017 and beyond." The SHOCK news so far of the close season?

solrac
Presumably they will run PL or NL. I can understand it around the transport thing, that part of the M25 is a nightmare on a Friday, it's definitely easier on a Saturday or Sunday. stevebrum
They aren't running anyway. They are running. Not EL according to the statement. That's definetly a shock.
Sings4Speedway
Shocking news for all the lakeside fans. Fingers crossed it is confirmed that the Hammers run in the PL or NL soon. Definitely best for the club to continue running at whatever level. Best wishes to all the supporters & remember things can always be worse. cityrebel
If rye go EL, maybe lakeside can nick their saturday race night. If the hammers run next season.
liam
Iam sure some people will now be happy they don't have to come to our crap trick track. Gutted.

NickRushbrook
Anyone who has a pop at our predicament as at least one individual already has is a complete lowlife toss stain. Happy to have it out in person as well should they wish. Bad news for the club and fans but this may not spell the end. Perhaps a good time to press the 'reset' button anyway.
KIRKYLANE
I do hope that it means that they can run NL next year as their AGM is much later. I would not want Lakeside to disappear

Ivanhoe
Never good to see a team drop out of a higher level.
cityrebel
With lakeside gone and Leicester doubtful, the EL is in a precarious position. Reinforcements are needed desperately.
Agrotron
Oh I feel for all Lakeside fans, its gutting to lose any club from the EL but don't feel too sad it looks like your club will be running Speedway in some capacity so not all is lost some Speedway at any level is better than none at all. FAST GATER
Sad loss to the EL but maybe PL for 12mths and then back again ,just as long as the team are not lost to the sport .
marko
So long as Lakeside continue to run, be it outside the top tier I don't see it as sad news at all, quite the opposite in fact. Running at a lower level would make far more sense in tying up the training school and progression to league speedway. I would love a return to local derbies with Rye and Ipswich, I would miss AJ but wouldn't miss some of the other "stars" who are only interesting in racing when it suits them. I watch non league football, and there is nothing wrong with the grass roots stuff, it's the same with speedway.
