TB1
Regardless of who's in what league, the punters want to see more fixtures.
Steve0
If Somerset comes up that will be a local derby we can hold., or even a three team meeting with Poole over three days. ..and no sharing of half the team
mauger65
well something drastic needs to be done .... current situation is creating a very weak top league doubling up and fixture clashes are hurting premier league and we are still are not doing enough to encourage British riders - the gap at international level continues to growth
MattK
How about this - the Elite league is run is the same way as Sweden and Poland - just a top of 8 teams over 14 meetings - 1 home and away running on Monday nights only So that gives them 7 top class home meetings then semi final and final The 8 EL and Premier League would join and ride in one large league riding on Wed-Sun The 8 EL clubs would not take part in the early season League Cup or the Knock Out Cup or an end of season playoffs trophy - but they would have 18-20 competitive home matches + their 7-9 EL matches The EL clubs would effectively have a premier league team - and for the elite league they could have 3 foreign riders and any 4 riders from the premier league (not necessarily guys from their own premier league team) This would allow at least 32 riders in the premier league to double up (and more if a squad system is used) and open up more opportunities for younger british riders in the premier league as there would be more spots available The biggest challenge with this idea is how you "sell" the weaker league to fans. If you charge EL prices for your main league, then your big league will only be a pound or two cheaper (based on current PL entry prices). Will fans attend the weaker league meetings if they are only a quid cheaper than the Elite League?
CookieIpswich
North & South League with 6 rider teams 20 clubs with national cup and regional cup competition is the only way forward. Then work on converting all the promising motocrossers and grasstrack juniors into speedway
TonyE
Well, at least one club needs to move up to maintain the minimum 8 required for the Sky deal. If two more do, then a couple of thoughts occur: - where are all the heat leaders/true No.1's coming from? - the PL will be in need of some new recruits - potential for Lakeside at least. Whilst the riders may not be as good - I think elite league fans would be surpised at how competitive and better the racing is in the premier league But my idea creates a potential quality eltie product and a possibly better premier league with 18-20 teams It wont happen though ... too much self interest with the elite promoters ...... but it clear that the elite league is a struggling product ......... look what it did to poor Birmingham

All riders were of simular average, and it was a superb meeting, on just a graded track nothing more due to the weather..
