CookieIpswich
Thinking out of the box a little why not have an end of season riders championship screened live on tv but instead of one rider from each team its the top 16 riders in the averages. Get the meeting a big sponsor with a couple smaller ones to have a 250k prize fund and watch the bigger names committ to the UK to have a chance of winning that cash Minimun requirment is completing the full season. damosuzuki
Definately a point in there somewhere. Football can support meaningless fixtures on the telly and Sky must be delighted with the playoffs but less keen on some of the meetings earlier in the season. This sixteen rider thing would be good right enough. The various individual championships have kind of lost their sheen.
stevebrum
It would be nice to have some better race tracks in the EL, Sheffield and Peterborough would be better than Wolverhampton and Lakeside. Come to think of it.....Any track would be better than Lakeside! They would be a good addition but not in place of the EL's best prepared track. Wolves gives some of the best racing anywhere. Don't kid yourself. In 50 odd years of watching this sport, I have never seen any races at Wolves to compete with what we witness on Wednesday from the NSS. That was the best racing you'll ever see............

You must be asleep a lot when sky have shown meetings from wolves over the years then as several of them have been regarded as classics and a lot of visiting fans have made the same comments. You are kidding yourself if you believe Monmore hasn't offered thrillers down the years. The NSS is a step above everything else in the country I agree doesn't mean that wolves have not had superb racing and meetings this year tho.

It was you who compared the racing at Wolves with the best anywhere, I just questioned that comment. We at Lynn have also seen some wonderful races, like you have at Monmore, but I would never compared any of those to what is served up at the NSS. This new track is unique and produces racing on a different level to anything we have seen before.... Simply awesome....
Sidney the robin
This track is special as was Hyde Rd a thing that proved it the other night for me was Max Clegg. He had had a poor night but made changes and got a great point. It looks like the riders really enjoy riding the track different lines and you have every chance to score points there. Fourentee
Tracks like that would be better for learners, get the fast riders on the fast tracks. To give the opposing view, a young developing rider I spoke to recently said that if he has a tumble and wants a confidence booster he has a blast at Scunthorpe because it's fast but not technical. The throttle twists both ways, you know!

Sky always make a big thing about coming to wolves because the racing is often good and consistent. I stand by that comment. To give the opposing view, a young developing rider I spoke to recently said that if he has a tumble and wants a confidence booster he has a blast at Scunthorpe because it's fast but not technical. The throttle twists both ways, you know! Absolutely. Tight technical tracks aren't great to learn on unless you have some experience in your pocket. TB1
It needs to be something different, 8 teams ain't enough, I don't know how we sort this mess out but the way it's going the top 3/4 clubs won't have anybody to race soon, people are not watching our sport on a weekly basis, the play offs prove there are still fans out there, but not going every week, a ten team EL would be ideal but where are the riders going to come from? Is it squads that are needed or does the points limit have to come down, that won't please the biggies but it might give all teams a chance, don't think it can be solved at one agm so a longer plan needs to be the way to go, self interest plays such a part nowadays which I can understand but is it really helping the sport as a whole or is it killing it off very slowly, take a hit for 4/5 years with a weaker product and bring the youngsters through at PL level and hope they develop which will make our nation stronger, but with that will we lose the existing supporters ? I don't think any of us know the way forward, someone must! That's what I have often said. If you blood young British riders for 2 or 3 years then eventually some of them will improve. packerman
You only have to see the way most of the Poles ride Lakeside, Wolves and formerly Eastbourne most look like fools. Only one I remember that took to Eastbourne was krzysztof cegielski on his first visit.
damosuzuki
This is why Poole would need to accept a lower level to expand the EL. I don't know what their average attendence is but I'd imagine they are head and shoulders above the rest. Even Belle Vue (for all the criticism this season) are miles above most. When yu have a franchise system like Speedway you nee to level it out or it doesn't work.
ouch
Belle Vue average 2500. Poor for the stadium we have but with certain monkeys off our backs and a focused marketing campaign we should be between 3 & 4 next season.

weatherwatcher
The new NSS is suited to the new breedof speedway bikes. It is bag and fast and they can ride them like no other track that there is in the British Isles, the other tracks are still throw backs from the old upright bikes. If they went back to those you would be seeing different racing on the other tracks, but they would be no use around the NSS. It is the first track specificly build for the new breed of speedway bike.
Aces51
I agree it's a track to which modern bikes are suited but I don't see why uprights would be no good. It is based in part on the old Hyde Road, which produced excellent racing with uprights, as did the likes of Sheffield, Halifax and Bradford, which are all big tracks.. Doesn't Peterborough still produce good racing?

Come to think of it.....Any track would be better than Lakeside! Better the Lakeside you know than no Lakeside at all. Their fans want the best available and if they lose that - what happens? Speedway loses yet another club.

Sorry Steve but you're living in the past. Would agree with you wholeheartedly pre 2011 but not now. Monmore is a shadow of what it was. Not the fault of the promotion or the track curator I may add
