What more can be said about the man that has not already been said many times before?

One of the best Swedes to ever race in the UK without doubt... and he is going to be missed.

Nice man? Is there a nicer one? Commitment? 100% as always. Never say die attitude? You bet! A loyal team man?

Never in doubt! Wolves through and through? Just like a stick of Blackpool rock!

PK, you have been a wonderful, wonderful servant both to UK speedway and to Wolverhampton and on behalf of speedway supporters everywhere, good health for the future, enjoy your speedway in Sweden for as long as you want to continue riding and thanks a million for everything you have done.

Winning the League trophy in your last UK season has added yet another layer of icing on the cake and if Speedway had more riders like you, the sport would be far better off.

You may be leaving the UK but the many, many memories will live on!

Have a great Olympique next week!

Superbly smooth rider. His 'armchair' style is reminiscent to that of former Robins legend Leigh Adams.

The Wolves have been very fortunate indeed to have such a class rider in their ranks for so many years.

A fitting end to a brilliant British speedway career.

When I was just a young fan wanting his autograph he was a top bloke, now he is a friend I'm glad to say he is still that top bloke. Superb rider, if it wasn't for that horror smash at KL at his peak who knows how many more individual trophies he'd have.

Still a wonderfully successful career, hats off to you PK!

I was about to make a similar post about the legend that is Peter Karlsson.

I feel privileged to have been there for his debut at the old Belle Vue back in 1990 and to be there again for his final rides this time.

In between he's provided 26 years of entertainment for fans up and down the country, indeed all over the world for an even longer period.

As others have said, a nicer guy you simply could not wish to meet.

Over the years I've had the pleasure of watching him race, sponsoring and enjoying his friendship, especially in the 90's.

I had tears in my eyes last night when word spread he had announced his retirement from British Speedway, but held them in till watching the re-run on Sky where I'm not ashamed to say I shed a few.

There are far too many wonderful memories both on and off track to list here, I would be here all day if I did.

I am so happy that I don't fly home till next weekend and will, weather permitting, be there for his final rides at Monmore in the Olympique on Tuesday.

For me, the sport won't be the same again now as my final 'childhood' hero retires.

Thanks for everything PK. You are a LEGEND.

What can I say that hasn't already been said ? The way he is respected and admired across the whole Speedwáy spectrum says it all. Few riders have achieved such admiration. The way he has conducted himself would make him admired in any sport.

But behind that modest exterior , which was more like an insurance clerk than a Speedwáy rider was a competitor as hard as nails, as we saw time and again in his 3 years at Lakeside. Some of my outstanding memories in the whole of my time following Speedwáy was the 2013 season when it seemed that almost every match was going down to heat 15 and it was down to PK and Dave Watt to go go out and seal the deal which they did everytime with what seemed like an almost telepathic understanding of each other.Even when Wolves were in town PK was still a Lakeside man at the time and took great delight in putting one across Freddie Lindgren, who I don't think, from memory ever beat PK at Lakeside.

Thanks for some brilliant memories Top Man, a credit to the sport.

My late Wife's favourite Rider.

Peter is a wonderful example to all aspiring Speedway Riders - I loved watching him. As people have already said a true Gentleman in the truest sense of the word.

I would like to congratulate wolfhound on an excellent first Post on the Thread. It says everything there is to say about PK. I concur with every word.

A super speedway rider, a fair speedway rider and an exciting speedway rider. But most importantly an almost universally liked speedway rider. I can't begin to work out the number of heats I have seen PK race over the years but I can tell you now the number of times he's done something I didn't like or annoyed me, zero, none, not even once. From his brilliant cut backs at Wolves to pass many an unsuspecting opponent to seeing him put his bike in just the right place on track for 4 laps to block a much faster opponent PK had pretty much all of it in his repertoire.

Any young, aspiring rider could do far worse than model themselves and their careers on that of PKs.

I genuinely felt sadness when he was interviewed after the meeting last night and confirmed his retirement from British Speedway. The word legend is thrown around far too much these days but it's quite fitting for PK.

Peter Karlsson would have been a top rider in any speedway era between 1928 and 2016

Surely a farewell meeting at the start of next season is deserved for such a loyal servant of British Speedway?
