Wolves 2017

Recommended Posts

There were actually no 7's just as weak, if not weaker in the late 80's, early 90's in the top flight.

Of course the rest of the relevant teams were far stronger.

Id argue in dome teams both reserves were as weak or weaker. Cradley nearly won the league in 82 with dome awful reserve pairings. Coventry's title winning side of 87 had two local juniors at reserve.

But absolutely the main body of the team were much stronger. Though the top teams in 2017 will still be better than the weaker teams of the earlier eras (e.g. eastborne 83, swindon 82/83, Halifax 83/84 etc.

Obviously not talking about me then as i have said Wolves have a good team that will challenge for the title.

Of course not. I would put you down as rational, reasonable and fair-minded (and always have been). It's just some of the others....................................................................

The reserves look weak compared to what we have been used to before the revamp.

When you look at them against some in the league, there are some of an equal ability

Coventry: Sarjeant & Bates

King's Lynn: Huckenbeck (3.31 left for other)

Poole: Klindt & Shanes

Rye House: Branford & Perks

Somerset: Allen & Graversen

Swindon: Grondal & Wajtknecht

Wolves: Clegg & Greaves

Coventry look stand out.

Poole next mostly because of Klindt alone.

ditto the Stars until we know who the 2nd reserve is.

Somerset, in Allen have potential.

Whilst the rest are much similar.

I think people forget the huge progress made by Clegg in the 2nd half of the season. Still a bit of an issue on away tracks but as a huge sceptic even I have seen a big growth from start to end season.

Think that shows how much the sport has declined at top level in GB.

The overall product, without a question.

We started with very similar weak draft riders 3 seasons ago and have helped some move into main team places so maybe this is the start of another generation coming thru.

Much rather watch British lads struggling and possibly progressing than do what the championship (old PL) do and use totally pointless foreign wasters in reserve.

Clegg will know that 2017 has got to be his break out year. Hopefully he's not daft enough to come out with the 'I'll be World Champion' guff next season. He should be focussing on making a good living from speedway and best of luck to him. His target, imo, should be to progress past the likes of Sarj & Bates.

Absolutely. I can remember the likes of Adrian Stevens, Roger Horspool, Darren Spicer, Emerson Fairweather and Robert Ledwith at Lynn.

Adrian Stevens was supposed to be the next big thing

Now there's a blast from the past. He was at Arena Essex in about 1988. First meeting away at Hackney at number 7, he scored 0,0,0,0. We all thought we were in for a treat, how wrong were we!

Absolutely. I can remember the likes of Adrian Stevens, Roger Horspool, Darren Spicer, Emerson Fairweather and Robert Ledwith at Lynn.

Rob Ledwith wasn't too bad, machinery let him down. He beat Martin Dugard round Eastie, which prompted Dugard to t-bone him after the race had finished!

Sorry to hijack the Wolves thread!

Clegg said he needs to improve on big tracks.

Quitting the NL and riding Armadale and Monmore every week isn't going to help him.

Greaves is just rubbish to put it politely even the Sheffield fans are saying it on their thread.

Aren't you a NEG head. The young lad deserves a chance.

I bet your the sort of person who ,in your career ,believes your the best at everything but in reality your "RUBBISH" and in your sad pathetic life you have to put others down to make up for your inability to succeed in your own life.

Someone's had a bad night haven't they?

Just telling you a fact. Not my problem if you cant handle the truth.

Armadale = Small track

Monmore = Small track

How is Clegg going to achieve his goal when he is riding small tracks all of the time?

Perhaps outofdarkness was commenting on your cogent and reasoned analysis of Nathan Greaves' prospects?

In shock quote frankly, awful team considering what CVS & Adams should have signed. Clegg should have been the best #7 in league next year, but no, he is not going to be the best #6... Wolves were had on a plate the most average efficient #1 in Lindgren on 10.09 or whatever his average is. The Skornicki signing I can understand on that average in this league. But not with the what they had previously signed. Happy 5th Place for the Dogs.

You are. But I am not either. They might get in the playoffs but the team isn't very good and three teams look definately better. Depends what Belle Vue and Leicester come up with before making a final judgement but Wolves look also rans.

Just my opinion and nothing more.

your entitled to an opinion..........just its always the same how other teams look poor and there is never any problems with the Poole team.

You can count on 1 hand the number of people who think Wolves look also rans...........and predictably one of them is you

They were until they swapped Kylmakorpi with Woffinden. The would never have won the league had that change not happened. This year they won't be able to do it as the rules have changed.

You talk absolute tosh at times! By the end of the season the difference between Joonas average and Tai's was 0.3 hardly earth shattering!

Also when Poole were at home to Wolves Tai scored 7.

In the league fixture Joonas got 10+1.

Luckily for Poole or they would have been beat by a bigger margin in the semis if Joonas was riding!!

Oh and against Belle Vue in the final:

Tai 8+2 (riding at number 4)

Masters 8 (riding at number 5)

And against them in the league:

Masters 13 (riding at number 4)

Joonas 7+2 (riding at number 5)

So even in the final Wolves were weaker at home then they were in the league. So please tell me how they only won because of Tai, because you make no sense

Not sure woffinden made that much difference, didn't pull up any trees on his home track.

spot on..........always good to see a Poole fan who knows what they are talking about and actually checks the facts
