Belle Vue 2017

Recommended Posts

Any news about Fridays meeting at the BV stadium????

Buster goes on holiday Sunday for a week so i assume there will be no news for a week at the very least.

I've since heard that George is not going to be involved now which is a shame if true. This could mean the agreements he had for riders would mean nothing and we could see a very different belle vue team line up in 2017

Oh dear, losing George could be one of the biggest disasters yet.

Am sure likes of Cooky will stay anyway but without George it means our potential future stars like Bewley might go elsewhere which would be a nightmare for us.

Looking at how weak the League is going to be, Bewley on a 4 could have been a massive for us next season & for years to come so really hope it ain't true.

Where's Rohan Tungate heading next year ? , wouldn't mind him at NSS :)

You mean you wouldn't mind him at BV..

Would have wanted him to continue at Swindon but those in charge voted for a team limit that was too low and has weakened the league again.

Its either weaken the league or watch a lot of clubs go bust i know which i would prefer.

It was Swindons own fault that they have what looks like a poor team because they wanted to sign a maga star. You could have kept Tungate ,Grajczonic and Morris if you had gone the other way.

eg

Tungate

Morris

Grajczonic

Ellis

Sedgmen

Nielsen

Wajknecht

Much better way to go imo.

Speedway clubs in general are struggling.

Cost cutting was necessary if Speedway is to survive long term.

This stupid attitude of "the only option is to cut costs" is ridiculous. More cost cuts = lower attendances = even more cost cuts. It's quite clearly a one way ticket. The only way out of this is to get more people through the turnstiles. Reducing the quality isn't the way to do this. But nevermind, this topic has been discussed at length and it's clear the promoters are keen to simply hold on for as long as they can rather than do anything about it.

And before somebody comes back and says that they are doing all they can, stop fooling yourself. They've done sod all about it.

"Oh but they let kids in half price that one time 3 years ago"... that's not promoting.

In reply to BurntFaceMan, would you agree that you can reduce the quality of individual riders, but end up with the quality of racing improving.

Sure, most people would like to see big names, but they come at a cost and at this time British speedway cannot afford the cost. I look forward to how the new proposals pan out, if they improve quality of racing overall then it would produce excitement and attract, hopefully, a bigger crowd maybe with a fresher younger audience if promoted well..

As a suggestion, it would be nice to see the worlds best come to the uk to compete in individual meetings, say 4 times during the summer months riding at a track in the North, East, West, South say Glasgow, Belle Vue, Kings Lynn, Poole. That should get crowds in, as many top guys as possible, get 10 and 6 top riders from new Premeirship (these could change track to track to generate "local" interest). I am sure some speedway fans would do a "tour" to take in all 4 meetings.

Ask Workington.... they would not be running in 2017 had they not gone for a prudent budget in order to survive.

Ask Plymouh .... who have gone down to the NL to cut costs and hopefully survive long term

Cost control is clearly necxesart to sny business. But it's not a long term solution for a struggling industry. BFM is correct that not enough attention has been paid to ways to grow revenue. If the sport is to thrive, then revenue streams need to increase, that means improving the product ANDmarketing it correctly.

Clearly ensuring costs are less than revenue remains fundamentAl.

Agree Workington will probably field a survival team, what this means for the future remains to be seen, to build a successful side would mean cutting rider costs and/or increased attendances.
