Belle Vue 2017

Recommended Posts

Disagree. Time for a new broom to sweep away everything that was bad about the old Belle Vue. Whilst I am sure Chris Morton is a very decent man, he was part of the disastrous previous regime which nearly ended in the demise of the club.

The new promotion should distance themselves from any attachment to what went before them.

God you should say zilch after last night's DISGRACE at your beloved club. All i meant was that Morton has not got into a public slanging match and i admire him for that. Your track on the other hand seems like it is only fit for BANGER racing.

Agreed. I think he will be back but he'll have to be eased back in as MCC would rather anyone with first hand knowledge of their behaviour be kept at arms length.

It's pretty much business as usual with the staff in all positions back in place for this year and even George was flouting around as usual.

It was a shame Mr 10% offered MCC an avenue to sideline some troublesome tenants as the subsequent fall out wasn't really worth it considering we are back as we were. His laughable desire to have control of the NSS was soon nipped in the bud by MCC but the damaging ball was all ready rolling by then.

Anyway back to Chris, I hope he's back soon as we can't afford to loose people like him and David with the sport being in its current state.

Maybe attention can be diverted away from Belle Vue now that the speedway bills have been paid. A few weeks ago about 90% was cleared but a bit of rib digging sorted the other 10%.

I wonder if the keyboards warriors will turn their attention to another promotion currently being chased for payment of speedway bills by their suppliers?

Without Chris Morton and David Gordon the club would have closed some time ago because the dog track wasn't sustainable. It was their vision, skill and hard work over many years that brought about the building of the NSS. Without that prospect nobody would have carried on sustaining the losses.

Take whatever view you will but I think everybody can see that, at the very least, not all of the problems last year can be laid at their doorstep. In fact it is becoming clearer that the root cause of the monetary problems, the cancellation of the opening meeting, was caused by matters over which they had no control.

On that topic the damming press made by the Chairman of the BSPA certainly didn't help the reputation of the club or its ability to survive. The silence from the same source over the Poole fiasco is very telling. I would have thought the ability to be even handed and impartial was a prerequisite of the job.

Still on the topic of impartiality, there are rumours that Robert Lambert might get one of the two British places in the GP challenge with King getting the other. Cook has a much stronger claim than Lambert. He has a higher average and finished higher in the British Final, he is at the moment the better rider and should get one of the places. Time will tell if the rumour is true.

Good luck to all Aces fans for the season you should be in for a treat this season with the Colts as well. It will be just like the Dent Oliver days.

Thanks Sidney, couldn't agree with you more.

The Belle Vue track looked in terrific condition last night at the Shakedown, despite a very wet March here in Manchester. With the Aces lineup looking very competitive & the Colts side full of promising young talent, there's a really positive vibe amongst us fans right now.

Regardless of whether this season ends with silverware or not, it looks set to be an exciting ride!

I think you have summed it up brilliantly Mike, a brilliant racing track a good stadium and a really good side with some real young talent to follow for years.I will say this though and you know this better than anyone without Chris/Gordon there would probably be no Belle Vue speedway. They kept perservering with this new stadium project,i just hope Chris can comeback in some capacity and maybe can tell you Aces fans his side of the story.

Before having yet another dig at our old promotion, give us all a right old laugh and tell us the excuse for Poole's (Matt Ford) latest shamble. And of all matches, the Darcy Ward fund raising. Unforgivable.

I think your season looking pretty bright with Craig cook and max fricke good form last night

It's looking very bright. Bjerre in decent form today as well. 3 solid heat leaders, 2 good 2nd strings and promising reserves.

Personally think it's the most solid team in the league. Certainly the top 5, no weakness there at all.

Reserves will be suspect early and that could hurt us but generally I think it's the best 1 to 7 in the league.

And Bjerre today.Looked quick as usual and was doing so from the back as well.Once passing Iversen in the semi's and final he won easily.Personally i was hoping Lynn were going to sign him on that average.Belle Vue have certainly gained in the sad demise of Coventry imo.Think he will love the big open spaces at Belle Vue.

I have to say I was very impressed by the new mascot on Friday. Looked brilliant and the kids seemed to love it.

I have to say, the mascot is impressive.

I haven't seen anything like it before, every Premiership club should have one.

Now it's been done it seems like such simple promoting.

Them kids will be absolutely hooked now, which means the family has to come back.

They've painted the inside kerb red white and black as well. Again small fry, but it gives some identity. People can associate with that.

Made a good start. Only thing I'd say is use social media more, Glasgow do it brilliantly and that is a standard for every club

First thing I noticed was the kirb painted. A small thing but looked great and as you say some identity to the stadium.

LOTS off activity at the stadium but I'm told the telephone lines were only reconnected very recently and they now have internet there as well. Has been making life difficult.

Also, MCC have taken over some of the office space so working conditions for others a little cramped.

They are very keen to revamp their website, will have top speedway journo Richard Frost writing a blog and Eddie Garvey, as good a speedway photographer as there is, will be back on board supplying photos to the Manchester Evening News.

There is a sense of optimism around the club this year. The new management are doing all the right things, the mascot is pretty cool and has a great name, Chase The Ace. I noticed the photos of the mascot did not have a race bib/body colour call it what you will, does this mean we are reverting to the classic Ace Of Clubs and getting rid of the horrible chequered thing? . I hope so. Aces til I die.

Just had a look at the website and looks as if it has already happened.

Getting rid of that nasty thing of the last few years and back to the 'proper' Ace.
