Steve Shovlar
You're wrong, Gavan. They will simply take the PL average. He hasn't a clue. Kept saying for weeks on end that riders wouldn't use their PL average. Made a total fool of himself, again, by going on and on about it when PL riders were always going to use their PL average. People on here kept saying where he had heard that PL averages were not going to be used but he couldn't answer. But just kept repeating it. Now he has been proved completely wrong, he can't even work out the rider averages for team building after the event. No wonder the best place for him is on block. Lol!
Little Thumper
I assume that BV Speedway/BV Arena Ltd have/had some full-time employees. Does anyone know what their position is and whether they are still in employment? I see that there is nothing about all this on the Belle Vue Speedway site and it would be nice if someone would put up a few words to clarify the situation. PHILIPRISING
If they lost money when they staged the World Cup, they couldn't run a bath, never mind a business. THEY didn't run the SWC, BSI did. BSI had a staging agreement with them but only a few days before the event had to cough up tens of thousands of pounds to ensure that the meeting went ahead. Little Thumper
It is being reported on ITV's website that the NSS cost £7 million to build and I believe that BVS/BVA were meant to be paying this loan back in the form of rent. Not quite sure how long they thought it would take them to pay back that kind of money but surely any new promoter would be faced with the same debt pile, as Manchester Council has a legal responsibility to protect the tax payers' money that it has spent. http://www.itv.com/news/granada/2016-11-03/speedway-team-kicked-out-of-stadium-and-league/ All in all, another bad news day for speedway. thestevecook
Surely there's got to be some sort of enquiry how this was allowed to happen - how were Belle Vue able to finish the season without paying any rent?? Where has the money from gate receipts, sponsorships, etc gone?

Little Thumper
It was £5.25m to be paid back over 25 years, still lot of money. Not quite sure how they thought that they would be able to pay back over £200,000 each year but perhaps they had hoped to earn revenue putting on other events such as concerts. I look forward to hearing how any new promoter thinks that they can earn this kind of money.

Little Thumper
According to the Manchester Evening News, some of the BV staff were told earlier in the week not to come into work, http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/belle-vue-aces-lose-stadium-12123221 I sincerely hope that something can be sorted out for any staff who are at risk of losing their jobs. waiheke1
Pity they couldn't have done their speaking some months ago and then perhaps the debts wouldn't have been allowed to pile up. I shall ask again - how will any new business model be different? Wow! If you can't make money running a big meeting like that, I'm not sure how you could make money at any meeting. Clearly, there must have been a big outlay to somebody for the privilege of running this weekend and it would be interesting to know where all the money went. The outlay for SWC surely went to BSI? That said, it was basically a sell out, so if they lost money someone definitely stuffed up with the business plan. the peter craven fiasco surely put them 100k down at the start of the season, and maybe they have just been behind all season since then. would be interesting to know how the regular attendances compared to the business plan though, as surely they cannot have missed by much? and can only assume the play off revenue was already built into their plan as well, for the extra revenue there not to have ade a signficant impact on the debts. Steve Shovlar
Perhaps they need to start running the stadium like other promotions do with not so many staff .... Staff were told earlier this week not to come to work......... What staff? The only staff employed by a speedway club in the winter would be the promoters themselves surely. Did Morton and Gordon tell themselves not to come in? Or Morton tell himself after Gordon legged it before the 5hite hit the fan? This mess has been on countdown for months. Since the team refused to put in any effort against Lynn as a show of discontent. Guests refusing to ride unless they were paid in cash before a wheel had turned. Gordon had clearly worked out that the outgoings were far bigger than the income so the project was doomed from early days. The promotion failed to promote and half the meetings were played out in front of crowds far too small to cover the outgoings. A complete mess, no proper business plan, no backup plan if the crowds didn't turn up. If a saviour is found, lets hope they have a lot more business savvy than the two clowns who have brought Belle Vue to its knees.
