hagonshocker
Don't believe Belle Vue ever really intended to keep Sedg on for the whole season
foreverblue
Tungate comes in to replace sedgman A bit of a surprise really, I know Tungate was hot property but I thought Sedgeman was having a pretty good season, I am sure Sedgeman will be snapped up by someone fairly quickly. I hope so, he has done well for Belle Vue and I thank him for that. IMHO as we have no or very little home advantage Lemon has done what a good team manager should, bring in someone with excellent scores whenever he rode at the NSS and Tungate is on a low average but scores very big round the NSS. IronScorpion
I don't think the change is hard to understand at all. Sedge is averaging around 5, tungate should average 1-2 more than that. Swings & roundabouts. If Tungate scores, as you say, 1-2 points more then Bjerre's average will drop riding together.

Not a surprise to me. Sedgman has done OK but Tungate is a real track specialist.
GregoryM
I read but don't post on the Belle Vue Army fans site and I'm hoping nobody minds me quoting what I've just been reading on there. So what follows are not my written words - but I do agree with all that's here and would have made the very same points anyway. With thanks to the author. On most visits to the NSS Tungate has, though, been superb, and maybe this is gamble for further down the line. Tungate will probably score more points at home than Sedgy would have done - and IF Rohan can match at least what Justin did / might have done on the road, then it ought to make us stronger for home and away aggregate matches. And Badge's comment is really enhanced by this one fact in isolation. The only visiting team to win at Belle Vue this year were Somerset when their Number 1 Heat Leader scored 13 points. Now Belle Vue have that very same rider as a Second String. On the bare face of it, it makes this a fantastic signing. The caveat to this is 'but Tungate is............' (complete the gap as you read the situation). Not necessarily. 1 point more by beating an additional opposition rider in the greats they ride together and/or 1 more point in the heat he isn't partnered by bjerre. GWC
If Tungate doesn't do well - and his current form isn't very good - then someone at BVwill have questions to answer. Conversely if he starts scoring double figures everywhere then serious questions would need to be asked about speedway in the U.K.

T.N.T.
It's a results based sport .... So a rider averaging under 5 is doing better than a 7+ rider 😐 Shame as they chased Justin and the rider struggling most seems to be Max Fricke but like a few others he has a bargain average. Sad to see some clubs are releasing the lowest reserve now new averages are in effect.
Najjer
He got 13 in one of his last few meetings with Somerset so even out of form he proved he was still very good at Belle Vue. Allegedly on a very powerful engine brought over from Poland for that meeting. It all started so well for him this season, beating Doyley in his first race carrying on from being our rider of the season last year but never got anywhere near those heights. Reknowned for his gating, he barely managed to make a decent start all season and really struggled. Such a shame as I'd have him back at Somerset as he has a lot more to offer than he shown us this year as proved last year - no good if his form from early this year continues though. (complete the gap as you read the situation). The Aces (strangely for a Speedway team) are vulnerable at home given the fair nature and excellence of the track, but very good away... Tungate will have been bought simply for his scoring around the NSS and with one eye on the Play Offs... The Aces just don't win "big enough" at home against certain teams to miss out on the opportunity of giving themselves effectively five heat leaders around the NSS... Away from home, their top four have delivered virtually every match and also deliver a fairly high proportion of race wins, which keeps the team in the meeting by preventing heat advantages against them and also means the scores of the other three are less impacting the overall match position.. Sedgmen has done his job so may feel justifiably unlucky but will be picked up I am sure and showed his professionalism last night.. Tungate literally has the beating of anyone around the NSS whereby Sedgmen doesn't, and in head to head play off Speedway that may prove to be the difference if the Aces are chasing down a ten point or so deficit at home, or looking to take a ten points or more advantage to an away leg.... foreverblue
Sedgeman certainly doesn't have his ear to the ground or I doubt he would have bothered winning heat 14 last night.

Aces51
Sedgemen knew on Tuesday so all credit to him for doing his best last night. Speaks volumes about his character. I have a lot of sympathy for him, he has done all that he could reasonably have been expected to do but as others have said we couldn't miss the opportunity to sign a NSS track specialist. Our away results show just how good a team we have but we need a rider to strengthen us at home to try to avoid dropping any more points and to give us a better chance of winning on aggregate in the play offs, assuming we qualify. Tungate is riding well in Poland , he should do well at home and that will help him to do better away. Much as it's a shame for Sedgmen I think it was an obvious change to make. More suitable for him.
SCB
8 meeting at the start of this season aside, Tungate has always been statistically better than Sedgmen. Tungate has since his first season been a good, solid PL heat leader while Sedgemen has only ever ridden as a second string. Over a season I know which one I'd put money on doing the business for me.
