Why did the timeline change from 60 years to 24??

 

Would have had huge implications to the numbers involved...

Absolutely. 7m over 64 years vs 8m over 24 years is an immense difference. IS it still interest free?

Hopefully the new promotion can negotiate a longer repayment period. OTHERWISE council risk an 8m unoccupied stadium. And speedway loses the best venue in the country.

No idea. 60 years was ok but 24 is not.

 

Manchester Evening News 09/04/2014

 

"The council will borrow most of the extra cash itself, to be repaid by tenants Belle Vue Aces over the next 24 years.

 

They will pay the maximum possible rent over that period in order to minimise the councils risks, says the report".

 

 

It's obviously now 23 years with nothing paid off the 8 mill. If they run only 17 meetings that's £20460 per meeting. I'm guessing admission will come down to £15 then take off the VAT to give £12.

You need over 1700 on the terraces just to cover that.

It didn't.

The original cost is 60 years. Half the extra £1.3m due to the covenant is to be paid by the speedway over 24 years.

As usual people talking bollox and making stuff up.

Do we know what rate of interest is being levied on it? By my reckoning the burden, if solely repaid by Speedway admissions and 20 meetings per season, would be a far more palatable ~ £6,500 per meeting or ~ 400 adults. With the potential for more revenue streams it isn't an impossibility to make a success of it if promoted/managed well..

Fred Flange is right about the loan repayment periods. My guess is that the current debts will lie with Belle Vue Arena Ltd so, without that burden, the repayments should be manageable based on entrance fees plus money from car parking, food concessions, bar takings and better use of the stadium facilities for the Academy, which had been delayed until next year, training days and other events. The Peter Craven suite has already been used successfully for a small number of events and further events were planned and advertised for December. Some were/ are apparently sold out. I see no reason why these initial events cannot be built on and increased next year.

 

What has happened is extremely sad and unfortunate for those owed money, Aces supporters, the sport at large and maybe the promotion. Personally, I reserve any judgement on apportioning blame until the facts are known and I suspect there is much more to come out than the information presently in the public domain. However, wherever the fault lies, I think it unfortunate that the promotion did not make clear the financial difficulties as soon as they became unmanageable so that fans and others could have at least tried to help.

 

The NSS must not be lost to the sport, the facilities and race track are the showcase the sport needs in the UK. Overall, the racing this year was brilliant and provided the most enjoyable season I have had since Hyde Road days. We are fortunate that steps are being taken to enable the Aces to continue and it is now up to the fans to get behind whoever takes over and do everything we can to turn up in sufficient numbers to make it a financial success. Let's hope that many of those who were privileged to see the play of final will attend next year. The crowd of about 1400 for the final meeting, a NL double header held after the play of final, gives cause for optimism.

Great post - couldn't agree more.

 

What's happened has happened and there's undoubtably fault in many areas, but there's a superb facility there for a real entrepeneur to drive forward for the future of British speedway. I still feel for David Gordon and Chris Morton who must be in a very bad place right now having seen their dreams destroyed (whoever is at fault)

I think people need to realise that the payback to MCC is for the whole arena facility - not just speedway!! Yes I know that BV took on the whole responsibility but now it would be in MCC's interest to appoint a new Arena management specialist with the BSPA negotiating a lease agreement at a realistic price for the speedway facilities.

 

Even the latter could be split into two parts - one to operate League speedway and another to operate the larger national/international speedway events!

 

PS. SGB reporting Buster Chapman 'travelling the UK' this week to negotiate the Belle Vue and Leicester situations!!

Have you seen something else that indicates the meetings are about Leicester and Belle Vue? Would be good for both clubs if something is sorted asap.

What does Worrells, Fricke & Cooke leave in team building terms? That is surely the best route.

Can's say that I'm overly optimistic.

 

A couple of seasons ago, it apparently took him 3 days to sort out a blown fuse!

So belle vue do not participate in next year's elite shield

 

It's time to start worrying

Is this just speculation or information from a trustworthy source? Cannot see any mention on the official BSPA website, Sky Speedway, SpeedwayGB twitter or search on Google news.

"Ford has also confirmed that the Pirates first team action of 2017 will against Wolverhampton in the Elite Shield, with the Pirates travelling to Monmore Green on Monday 27th March with the return leg on Wednesday 29th March. The Wimborne Road season opener will be the Darcy Ward Invitational Meeting on Friday 24th March."
