Little Thumper
This weekend, I can either go to Buxton for a double header that I am not entirely sure is viable with a 3 p.m. start or I can go and once more savour the delights of Loomer Road. I watched the Warriors race a little earlier in the year at Belle Vue and as I arrived in good time, I spent some time watching the riders as they carried out their preparations in the pits. I was very impressed with the attitude of the IOW team and this positive, buoyant attitude translated itself into a feisty performance on the track, losing narrowly to the Colts. I always enjoy seeing Tony Atkin in action and on his day, he can go wheel to wheel with the young whippersnappers. Ben Wilson doesn't seem to be the force that he once was but if he has his race face on, he can be good value. And Ben Hopwood is a real trier who is capable of getting a bag full of points if he has a bit of luck on his side. So even though Loomer Road is a bit of a dismal place and even though at the recent meeting against Kent, the texter for the updates site suggested that there were nearly as many dogs in attendance as there were people and even though the loudspeaker system was pretty useless and even though there wasn't much atmosphere, I think I will be Potteries bound this weekend as I want to see some RACING. Just my opinion, obviously. Edited October 3, 2016 by Little Thumper
pete cc
Your opinion is your opinion & your welcome to it. I shall add a little of my own. This meeting may hinge on the reserves.Depeneding on how many points Stokes pair score or not. One of them will at some stage try leaving for the pits at high speed & the other will try very hard but not get there very quickly.i will also be there, weather permitting. Little Thumper
So, would I be right in assuming that Danny Phillips will be AWOL? If so, is there anyone half decent who could be brought in as a hired hand? I can't decide whether to take my dog or not. She is a big Tony Atkin fan but she wasn't best pleased when I told her that he had defected to Kings Lynn and was riding AGAINST Buxton on Sunday! I told her it was Jason Pipe's fault and I fear that she might bite his ankle next time she sees him. At this moment in time (Tuesday afternoon), the weather is looking pretty promising for Saturday, so it looks like I will be joining the heaving masses on the terraces at the Loomer Road Theatre of Dreams. Pretty sure that there won't be any punch-ups, though.
Mike.Butler
see you there then. I need Loomer road to complete visits to all tracks this season.
Little Thumper
see you there then. I need Loomer road to complete visits to all tracks this season. Great achievement, mike.butler! Perhaps when you have completed your Grand Tour, you might be kind enough to write a few words about your experiences at each venue, as this might prove interesting and informative? Don't know if you have got a dog but if you have, it would be great if you could bring it to boost the numbers.
Mike.Butler
you will recognise me easily enough. I will be the one without a dog.
Little Thumper
you will recognise me easily enough. I will be the one without a dog. That's a bit disappointing, Mike.Butler. Do you have any friends? Perhaps one of them could lend you a dog? I believe that as the dog track is still there at Loomer road, in 2017 they may ask the assembled punters to put on a bit of a canine GP in the interval. Apparently, this is as a result of a thread in one of the other departments where they are looking for ideas to attract yoofs and someone has pointed out that a lot of yoofs seem to have dogs, so this might encourage them to come along and join in the fun. I think they will be hard-pressed to get round my girl, Sgt Bash. She has got a good turn of pace and takes no prisoners. Anyway, Mike.Butler, get there early to beat the rush! Dickie Head
Lee Smart fans should know that he will miss this meeting (and Buxton on Sunday) due to a long standing family commitment.

Thanks for that but probably not going to put too big a dent in the attendance figures.

Little Thumper
It is now the day before this meeting but there is no meeting preview on the Stoke website. This kind of tardiness hardly whips up the enthusiasm amongst us expectant plebs. I do sometimes wonder if some speedway clubs don't want to encourage people to come along and so work on a need to know basis. And obviously, Joe Public doesn't need to know. At the Brooklands circuit before the war, their motto was, "The Right Crowd and No Crowding". I think some speedway outfits have adopted this policy and taken it to new heights. Come on Stoke, get your act together! At least tell us who is riding. It can't be that difficult, surely.

Baldy
Would of gone to this but thought it would be a premier match as I remembered when I used to go that Tatum had a five year plan to be back in the Premier. How far along the road is that?

KIRKYLANE
There is no way I will attend Stoke whilst the present promoters are in charge. I used to go regularly when Jon Dews did the track and I could expect to see good racing..... The last few times that I did attend , the track was poor and the quality of the racing was just as bad as the track. Hence I do not go now. I am however doing a 600 mile round trip for two matches this weekend....both matches as a neutral...

Well, hopefully I shall try the place out again tonight but if it is as dismal as when I went a few weeks ago, then this will be my last visit for the foreseeable future. Sadly, my dog, Sgt Bash can't make it tonight so I shall be all on my own and I shall be supporting the Isle of Wight Warriors as I like the cut of their jib. I bet Chris Widman is hoping to bang in a few points! Be seeing you.
