Daytripper
Former Workington and Lakeside favourite Kauko Nieminen has announced his retirement from Speedwáy at the age of 37. One of speedways genuine nice guys. Never world class but the type of gutsy trier that makes Speedwáy such a great sport. A privilege to have known you and seen you ride Kake. Best wishes for whatever else you do in life.

KIRKYLANE
I remember seeing him in Finland the year before he came over. He had just done a deal with Workington and was so pleased to be coming over to Britain. A genuine rider who gave a lot of pleasure to those watching him race. speedibee
Was very popular back in the days when Leicester had some supporters , Thanks for the memories and best of luck for the future
NickRushbrook
Watched him beat Leigh Adams at the Abbey which is no mean feat. Was absolute dynamite at times but lacked consistency to get to the next level. That said, was an integral part of better times at Lakeside so made an invaluable contribution to my enjoyment of this great sport. All the best to Kauko.
