Kauko Retires

Recommended Posts

Former Workington and Lakeside favourite Kauko Nieminen has announced his retirement from Speedwáy at the age of 37. One of speedways genuine nice guys. Never world class but the type of gutsy trier that makes Speedwáy such a great sport.

A privilege to have known you and seen you ride Kake. Best wishes for whatever else you do in life.

Aye a popular Glasgow Tiger in 2006 and briefly again in 2014

Watched him beat Leigh Adams at the Abbey which is no mean feat.

Was absolute dynamite at times but lacked consistency to get to the next level.

That said, was an integral part of better times at Lakeside so made an invaluable contribution to my enjoyment of this great sport.

All the best to Kauko.
