Sec Final Round 2018 Chorzow Saturday September 15th

Recommended Posts

It's weird how when the SEC first started a lot of us were pretty, "meh" todwards it and the Poles loved it. Few years on and the Poles just don't seem to give a rubbish about it looking at the crowd.

Think the Poles backed it due to it being a Polish promotion behind it but after a few seasons and the top top riders giving it a wide birth the fans are doing the same

I think there are too many meetings in Torun and Poland which makes people stay home for this one. There was a GP in Warsaw about 6 weeks ago and we've got

the SWC RO/Finals next week in Leszno as well as another 2 Polish GPs later this year. Too many meetings too close together geographically and time wise.

Translation of part of a Sportowfakty article this am

" What appeared on the SEC on the Friday, many empty chairs on the Torun. The competition saw just over five thousand spectators. The factors that decided on this, however, were a few. - Well, we were expecting a good deal. The atmosphere around the speedway sport in Toruń after the recent events is poor, so it had a big impact. Certainly it was also the injury of Adrien Miedziński, who was about to start his march towards the European Championship. It took us many local supporters. For this weather - does not hide the president of One Sport Karol Lejman "

I think we get the gist of it despite the dodgy translation,

Can we now put a transcript of the co-commentary through Google Translate as well?

Although battered and bruised it seems Nicolai Klindt has got away without any broken bones. This was posted on his Facebook page.

Nicolai is as stated before, badly bruised, but nothing is broken as far as we know.

"I'm pretty sure my ribs are bruised around my chest. I'm just fed up with crashing when it ain't my fault. Just have to move forward. Luckily I have a week off now".

Nicolai would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and messages, but he hasn't had the time yet to get back to anyone.

Along with about 8 different Russians :P

I had to work with a Canadian co-commentator once who knew nothing about the sport concerned (only a bit less than me - no it wasn't speedway!). He relied on about half a dozen stock phrases including "He's pourin' it on" and "Nobody's leaving their seats". Our boss at the channel asked why we were using him. Well he's got an American (sic) accent" was the response from our producer. "We've got American commentary coming out on half our programmes!" was the blunt response (cleaned up).

I became sole commentator.....
